After spending way too many hours setting up this brand new Dell D830 and just as everything seems perfect, I notice what looks to me like a defective port for the "Powered USB".

Dell Tech can only offer to repair (replace motherboard) and I can return up to 21 Feburary for a refund (same day my AVP Suite trial license expires).

I need for someone who would know what a Powered USB female port should look like,
to look at my picture below and see if this looks defective or not,
just click on the Thumbnail below to open a larger (325KB) copy of photo in a new tab.

I have never seen a Powered USB before, but inside the upper right corner looks like something missing and shiny copper exposed.

I have never used all the 'ports' on any computer, but still would not like to have a defective one :(

Thank you in advance for looking and telling if it looks correct, or not. :-*

    Hi pilotart,

It seems that is indeed broken.

Here you can see how a PoweredUSB should look like.

Yes they seem all to be a 4 pin socket, maybe the copper bit is earth or similar.
The only way to make sure is to test.
