I used the Hard Disk Migration wizard to change to a bigger hard drive (actually did this twice).

Now, when I try to use the old hard drive(s), they don't show up in My Computer, in Disk Management it shows as offline and unallocated (even on other computers).

If I 'get to' the drive, I can't format it, keep getting a write protect error, even on a Mac.

All I want to do is utilize the space on these two drives again. I do not need to save anything, just format and start using the drives again.

    Can anybody offer assistance?

    Thanks!!!

I've tried hooking the two drives up via esata and usb, no luck with either.

I can't remember what the 9.5 Disk Migration wizard does.

It might have copied the disk signature.

If that is the case, Windows will have changed the disk sig on your original drive .

Don't know where the write protect issue is coming from.

What does diskpart tell you about it?

This will often do the job:

    1. open cmd propmt

    2. Type diskpart and press Enter.

    3. Type lis vol and press Enter.

    4. Type sel vol #, where # is the number of the write-protected drive. Press Enter

    5. Type attributes disk clear readonly and press Enter.

    6. Type exi and press Enter.
