In our case we do (eventually) integrate the techniques of standalone uninstallers into the products. But having a standlone utility allows us to make changes and fixes to the uninstall procedure of different vendors and versions more quickly than depending on a full fledged product release.

Specifically in the case of CloudAV the product itself simply calls to stop the service but this sometimes doesn't respond in time or at all. So we released a generic uninstaller that kills the service if this happens with a more brute-force approach. Eventually we will either (a) fix the service response time during normal uninstall or (b) integrate the service-stopping technique into the products' uninstall functionality.

In short, a standalone util allows us to implement new techniques and fixes quicker than relying only on big product releases. But these improvements always end up eventually in the product.

"GameXP" is an application that's being automatically neutralized and not just showing up in the blocked-apps. list seen when flipping the window - it's detected as "Potentially unwanted software". It can be found here: http://www.theorica.net/gamexp.htm - and at least I don't think it's malicious at all, so please check it out.

I'm writing this message on a new reformat. Why? Simply because when I scanned my whole system with P-CAV, it would detect a lot of "suspicious" items, and then *BOOM* - BSOD.

    I restart - BSOD.

    I go into safe-mode - BSOD!

I test with "Last known good configuration" - BSOD!!

    A follow-up question to this... and BTW, I'm not really in a good mood, cause I definitely wasn't "prepared" to reinstall my system yet again;

Any suspicious items detected, are those (1) blocked or completely removed from my system, and (2) are those items with this classification automatically sent to you for further analysis?

I'll give P-CAV a long rest for now - probably I'll go back to it once first final version at earliest.

Will Panda Cloud be able to auto-update its program components? Right now i couldn't find anything related to such functionality. Even though it gathers detection info from the cloud, program itself has to be updated occasionally i guess.

If not I have to upgrade 5 machines manually

Yesterday I scanned 3 systems with Panda Cloud AV, 2 QuickTime files were detected as PUP or suspicious. I think these 2 files are FP, however they were sent to the Panda laboratory :)

In other words those that are suspicious are at least sent automatically if chosen to do so? (Part #2 of my question in my previous post.)

In other words I think the files in the recycle bin are sent automatically. I don't know if these files are PUP or suspicious or dangerous or whatever :D

Suspicious (heuristic) & PUP detections are not automatically removed. They stay in their original location and are simply blocked by PCA until either of the following happens:
    - You unblock them from Recycle Bin
    - You delete them from Recycle Bin
    - They get a classification answer from the cloud (malware/goodware)

Sorry to hear about this problem and the inconveniences. Did you happen to save the report or, ideally, the advanced log to see which files it detected?

Only suspicious detections (heuristic) are sent to the cloud and then only if:
    a) you have the automatic management of suspicious checked.
    b) we don't already have the file in the cloud.

Not a slightest possibility to do so - it was an instant BSOD-spiral. :doubt:

My guess would be that, whatever it "took care of" (I REALLY hope it at least just blocked all the "suspicious" stuff it detected, cause I recognized a lot just being FPs :doubt:), since it was heuristically or so, you should have it sent to you, OR, alternatively already in your database ready for analysis. I hope you see what I mean by this. :) It refers to what you've said just above. ;)

Yes, we're still defining how exactly. Might not be in the initial 1.0 but for sure on the next release after that.

Yes Beta3 will support 64-bit, both Vista and Windows7. It should come out around mid-September.

    Question for Pbust,

Im running Windows Vista 32bit, my issue is when i run a full scan it either wont scan and stay at zero or it tends to go about 2% or 4238-4290 file scaned and just stay there,

are there known issues with the on demand scanning?

also will there be scheduled scanning ?

Yep this issue has come up on and off... it's not a problem with the actual scan but rather with the interface technology. Did the screensaver come up by any chance during the scan? Or else was the user logged off during the scan? Did you try dragging the scan window? Does it show something different while being "dragged"?

no i dont think the screensaver came on, all it does when dragging it the window becauses tranparent and then once dragged goes to a the normal scan look. im not sure because but alot of the time it wont even scan and just stay at zero%. only just Panda cloud thats it.

sorry i couldnt be more help. i tried an uninstall and reinstall still same issue.

Question will this be very limited vs other AV like scheduled scans, password protection and self protection etc?

    thanks
    Brock

    why is this?

Also is this going be another "avast" and have pro/home with limited functions only get see you need the "pro" version to be well more features? i should hope not.
