Although, likely to change, if only minor, here are some of the interfaces:

Looks like they're getting ready for Windows 8/Metro.

Edit: I installed NIS 2013 beta in an XP VM (virtual box) and it appears to work OK. There's no obvious difference between the beta and NIS 2012. As the above screenshots show the UI structure is the same with only cosmetic changes such as the square, metro style icons. There's a post on the Symantec beta forum saying that a list of new features and changes is coming.

    How lee crap.
Look what Microsoft's new "Metro" styling is doing to software, that's ugly!

I've always found Norton GUI's to be pretty good in the last few years ( Since around 2008 ) but come on this thing is UGLY, they are going backwards in terms of GUI.

getting a bit too much if you let the GUI appearance decide on which product to use,:-you only see it when you configuring it or going into the features, not as though its staring you in the face all of the time! For me if the best product had the ugliest GUI imaginable I would still use it!

Doesn't really matter what it looks like, as long as it works good....that being said, i tested this out on a vm. Low memory usage at 24k. Update works better, you don't have to install an update and restart 3 times like before, for me anyways. Detection is very good, tested it out at MDL and Norton blocked all that i tried to run. Ran mbam afterwards with no detections.

What is the baseline memory usage of your VM without Norton installed after it has successfully booted up and all services & processes loaded? If you have time can you post stats of Physical Memory; Total, Cached, Available, Free and also Kernel Memory; Paged and Non-paged.

Also if you can, provide the quantities of the above memory stats but with Norton installed. I would do it myself but i do not have access to my computer from today onwards, until the end of next week :(

I find the GUI ok. Its good that they have mode it more simpler. It seems unfinished now but I guess its just beta now.

Hopefully improvements like using Win8 'early boot protection' outweigh the GUI, unfortunate for Win7 users though, stuck with just a fugly look.
Surprising to read that some WSF members don't mind, 'working' with a 24" smartphone app GUI on a Win8 VM still feels horrible imo.

I just finally got around to installing this. I can't get excited about it. I liked the 2010 interface. I think it has gotten worse each year since. :doubt:

they created to IPAD and touch screen as well so i guess thats the reason for large button as windows 8 gonna be on lot of tablest/tv/ipad....etc

so its logical to have bigger icons for fat fingers :D
