Am using NOD32's trial ver. (1.415), and it crashes more often than not, in scan of a drive or directory, etc. See below, re error message; but if trial ver. crashes this much, am I to assume a paid version is any better? Or, might this just be just something on my PC in particular, that causes repeated NOD32 crashes?

Also: when it scanned before page faults (and as I had the "scroll log" option checked - as files zoomed by while being scanned - why did I see periodic entries in (a blue) color? Files scrolled by too fast, so I could not read what entries marked in blue said.

P.S. The very first crash I think had to do with kernel32.dll or something like that, but then all crashes after that, read as below error message.

I've used NOD first on W98 and now XP and have not encountered a crash in over a year of use. So I don't know what you're encountering but this is not normal behavior. At least it isn't in my experience. (I didn't have any crashes when I was using the trial version either.)

Hopefully someone will come along who can provide you with some assistance. In the meantime you may wish to provide what OS you're using, what other software is running at the time (just in case there's a potential conflict). Did it crash from the first scan or did the behavior begin later? No other problems with programs on the PC? Just this? Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall to see if the behavior continues? That sort of thing. :)

Re:NOD32: invalid page fault (Part two)

    Re troubles w/NOD32:

I'm using WIN98se, on WEBase brand PC from PC Connection, w/AMD Duron chip.

1st crash happened (I thought at the time) because other programs were running in taskbar; but after shutting them off, crashes continued.

NOD32 seems nifty, and has won something like 21 VB awards but... if I can't for some reason get it to scan my PC, well, then, that part of program is fruitless (on this PC) it would seem.

I then wonder, for instance, will NOD's Pop3Mail scanner actually work and catch "the baddies" if they arrive via e-mail? The mail scanner offered to setup for Outlook Express, which I actually don't use, generally.

Have been using Mailwasher PRO, and starting last night, Spam Sleuth (re Bayesian filtering, I think), which seems pretty slick for spam filtering.

Thanks for any thoughts on NOD32 crashes; really would like to finish trial ver., and buy it, but...

What other software do you have installed? Run StartupList (http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/~merijn/) and either paste the whole result here, or send it to me at: anders @ eurosecure.com.

You can manually change the proxy settings for the POP3-scanner to work with any e-mail client, however, version two is near release, and it solves e-mail scanning in a much better way. It might change something regarding the crashes too, but, run StartupList "just in case"...
