My friend put a region 2 DVD in her computer and it will only now play region 2 DVDs.

The computer tells her to reset it to the regular region but we do not know how to do this. How do you reset it to region 1

Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Highlight appropriate DVD/Right click Properties>Select DVD Region tab (see screenshot)

Hey, I'm the person that's having this issue but do you think it's a little too late to use both Regions now? I don't want to download anything..Before this thing popped up asking me which region I want for setting up, it let me watch any of the dvd regions becuz I always clicked on the X button to close that thing while the movie was playing,but now I guess I have to choose one since I clicked Japan/Region 2 by accident

VLC takes no notice of DVD region locking.

The thing to understand is that DVD regionalization is an approach to product distribution control that, simply stated, doesn't reflect many of the operational realities of a fluid global economy or, in fact, a regionally fluid global populace.

See the DVD Region code wiki or use Google to determine how to best deal with the specifics of your situation.

Ther is an app, AnyDVD, that allows you to fool the hardware and play any region dvd, without having to use one of the remaining region changes that Blue showed.

BTW, those region changes DON'T reset with a format, so if you use all of them, you're stuck with the last one you selected.

That is true. I think you have to go into the drive software itself in order to unlock it.
