McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i

Patch 11 for it has been released! Fixes many issues. Also, there is a beta4 version of the 5000 scan engine. Anyone tried it? How good/bad is it? Is it worth installing right now? Also any idea when the final 5000 scan engine will be released?

 

Patch 11 doesn't add anything special. Just bugfixes and so on.
Engine 5000 final is scheduled to be released sometime around beginning of the 2006. There will probably be Beta 5 of the Engine 5000 and then RC1 and RC2.

According to IBK they significantly improved heuristics. Notrhing about unpacking capabilities. Probably upgraded as well...

 

So should i upgrade to the beta right now? Is it stable enough?

 

I was beta testing it since it came out. Always worked just fine on my PC.

Can you provide a link to this Patch 11 for McAfee Enterprise 8.0i (I couldn't find it)?

 

Since this is an Enterprise and not a Home Antivirus it can only be patched through a corporate environment with a relevant license.

It can be patched if its running standalone too! Just go to mcafee support, enter your grant number to get the latest updates. I could post the link, but then its illegal to go to the link directly!

Is patch 11 replacing all previous patches?

 

I'm not sure if it's cumulative... I had the 8.0i with Patch 10 already integrated so i really can't tell for sure.

 

Patch 11 is cumulative. It contains all previous patches.
