Not sure what you mean. Do you want to make the bootable rescue cd or do you just want to burn the Acronis install file to CD for safe keeping?

For the first one, after you install the program there is a feature on the opening window to make the bootable rescue cd.

For the second you have to have your own burning software.

    .

After reading this thread, I have a related question....I purchased T.I. version 8, and upgraded to version 9, so I currently have access to download either version from the Acronis website. Will I always have access to download version 8 from the Acronis website, or do I need to put the version 8 install file onto a cd or external hard drive ( and how exactly would I do that) ? I don't have any separate cd burning software except what is included with Windows XP SP2 Home Edition.

Download every available build of both TI8 and TI9. There is no guarantee that any particular build will be available in the future. You may never need them all but you'll have them in case you need them. There have been situations in the past where a user has had a problem and someone has pointed out that a particular build, for whatever reason, overcame the problem. I imagine it was related to versions of drivers, etc.

When you generally download any file from a company, you will be downloading a Installation Exe file of the software. You need to burn the exe file to a CD-R as a data file. I know nothing about Windows burning ability, having never used it, so download a trial of some burner software and it will give you the ability to burn a data disk. Here's a link I googled and it is free to try software called "Cheetah CD Burner 3.31":

    Code:
    http://www.download.com/3000-2646-10172045.html
Download the trial and burn with it.

Thanks for the info tachyon42 and allen, I will download the installation exe file of version 8 build 937 which works fine for me now, and the latest build of version 9 (2302) which I haven't tried yet, and store them on in a folder on my external drive. Also, Allen stated that "You need to burn the exe file to a CD-R as a data file",,,,is that what I would be doing as I described above?...(except I would be putting the file onto the external drive instead of a cd).

If you just 'copy' the exe file to your external hard drive, that will be the same as burning it to a CD-R as a data file. The 'new' file will be the same as your original. When you get ready to use the file you will just copy it from either a CD-R to a folder on your present OS hard drive and execute it to install what program it may be, and the same process if you have it stored on your external hard drive.
