Well.. Basically the problem is that in the right click context menu on the desktop i only get these 4 options.

    Refresh.
    Paste.
    Paste Shortcut.
    Properties.

All the other options are gone, what i want to know is how to get them back.

I know this is not malware related but there wasn't an appropriate section for my question on the forum.

    XP 64bit.

Thanks, I am really stumped on this one.

Interesting. Context menus are derived from many different sources in the registry.

Take for example if you go to HKCR/*/Shell you can place a value there that will get put pretty much on every right click no matter where. Other keys like HKCR/Folder/Shell will only show it's values if you right click on a Folder. Still more, like
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell
are specialized. This is a reference to the My Computer icon context menu.

Really, to lose that many is strange. If memory serves correctly, shell explorer might be of use. Also I think Windows Context Menu Manager was one I used in the past. Even tweakUI has some context stuff, but more limited I think. Also xTeq XSetup v6.33 or earlier I think had some context menu stuff.

I would not want to do it by hand. Trying to find all the places might prove very frustrating. Hopefully it is just your desktop that is affected the most. I have looked into context menu registry values quite a bit, and while you can get things to work in many instances, often times special folders, like desktop, don't really exist at all, and are quite more complex to find and create.

    Hope that helps maybe.

    Sul.

    So what do you recommend?

Maybe there is a restore script somewhere, i have been looking but i cant find one.

Well, I'm gonna try Tweak UI and give that a shot, thanks for your help and if you have any other suggestions it would be a great help!

Must be another one of those low level embedded update to the OS files. Security software developers really dig down deep into the system.
