    Hi Kate,

Unfortunately, I've experienced the exact same manifestation of this issue on another PC whilst having no other security applications running [ie. AV/HIPS/sandbox].

Does your team member run network-capable portable apps from their encrypted partition? Do they only use TrueCrypt to encrypt their system partition? [just trying to work out what might make their circumstances different]

One thing I mentioned earlier in this thread is that I was unable to add any applications to the Access:Rules section. This turns out to also be specific to applications located on encrypted partitions/containers. I can add applications located elsewhere on the machine without issue. If I try and add an application on the encrypted partition it goes through the motions of allowing me to select the .exe but then fails to actually add it to the list.

I might try encrypting the system partition next and seeing if I experience the same issues.

    Hi webbit,

Popups are not shown if an application is auto-allowed (whitelisted) only if it's an unknown. The tooltray icon is rather quick but you can change the options and have a fade-up windows instead.

    Thank you and regards,

    Kate :D

DriveSentry quarantined the new Adobe Flash install dll. I had to turn off DriveSentry. You may want to look into this. Nice program. Working very well.

I'm using Avira Premium as well and i have no issue with DriveSentry's scanner.
However using DriveSentry as a standalone antivirus is much prefered if you find that it does not work well with your antivirus.
Anyway you can still use them together by disabling Antivir Guard while keeping the AntiVir WebGuard enabled if you wish.

When will the next version with lower memory consumption be released?

Avira is using 15MB with DS using 47MB on my PC.

I think it will be quite ahile before they get a handle on this.
I've been going around and around in their forums with John from Drive Sentry Support,

    http://forum.drivesentry.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=199

I just tried a new version 3.1.2.32 with results that are no better.
It still uses alot of memory but just not physical memory,
Page file memory goes up and commit charge also is alot higher,

All memory usuage seems to keep climbing the longer the computer is on.

I like the concept of DS but I will no longer use it until this problem is fixed.

    Danny,

    Thanks for that.

    When it's fixed please post a heads-up.

I’ve noticed about the same memory usage on XP also, about 47,000k. I haven’t noticed the memory leak on XP, only Vista. It starts out at 47,000k and currently is at about 58,000k.

One thing about this program, although it seems to use more resources than other programs it seems to impact the response of my pc less.

I only hope they correct the memory leak, otherwise it’s working well.

Hello. Having used DriveSentry for some times now, I haven't faced any problems so far. It keeps working well, and even my wife can live with it. That's a lot! Finally a proactive that's free, light on pop-ups, and effective. However, I have recommended this software for a couple of my friends but they got only problems. So they decided to reinstall it. What a shame! I really hope you will improve this great software and make it work even more stable and trustworthy - not only on my computer but others also. Thanks.

    Its a lifetime license.
If you format your computer then just re-enter your username and password when re-installing.

I also believe that you can use the same license on another computer as long as you are only running one instance of Drivesentry at a time.

Hi Katie! I have been thinking about trying Drivesentry & have a few questions for you! 1st) Does Drivesentry consume alot of resources & will it effect my internet speed? 2nd) Is Drivesentry compatible with SuperAntispyware Professional with real time protection turned on, Spyware Terminator with real time protection turned on, Avira Personal Free Edition with web guard turned on, & Sygate Personal Firewall Pro &/or Free version 5.6.2808? How about compatibility with Kaspersky products?(I'm thinking about switching from Avira to Kaspersky). 3rd) Do I have to turn off all real time protection to install Drivesentry? 4th) Should I reboot after installation before I update Drivesentry? 5th) There is rumers that Drivesentry will be coming out with a new version this month, is that true? 6th) When will this happen-date? 7th) Will this new version have a firewall & can this firewall be disabled/turned off as I really would like to keep my current firewall-Sygate? 8th) Are there any problems with trickle feed updates as I have read about people having problems with these after the 30 day trial?9th) Will the 10 euro include all update versions? I know there is alot of questions here but these are concerns of mine I need to address before I try this software! Thankyou for your time & consideration Katie & have a great day!! I'll be looking forward to your reply! Darrin

The DS memory leak is a long standing issue. Time & again they have promised to fix it, but they have not done so yet. I wonder -- is developing a fix a low priority? Or is it a stumper? I hope they will address this issue soon!

    Hi Darrin,

Here's some answers to your questions :)

1, CPU usage will be low and it will not alter your internet speed. Memory usage could be much better and we are working on this now.

2, There has been tests on a range of security products which have been good. Kaspersky and DriveSentry fight like cat and dog so there's issues with KAV but the rest will be ok.

3, No you shouldn't need to turn anything off.

4, No need to do a reboot.

5, Yes there's a number of updates occuing which include:

    - DriveSentry is now recognised as a valid A/V product by MS Windows  so we are just adding some code to stop the security warnings from Windows.

    - A new rootkit protection is being intergrated which should be done this month. This is 80% done but needs lots of testing, any beta testers would be good :D

    - Memory usage the team has identified that the fancy Google maps advisor window takes lots of memory this uses a browser control (part of IE) so we are looking at replacing or changing this which should resolve lots of issues inc a mem leak.

    - There's lots of other new features in progress but theres a number of commerical contracts in the pipeline which has changed our release dates.

6, Please email our support team as the dev team are juggling alot of different dates at the moment due to these commerical projects and they will give you a better timescale on releases.

7, A firewall module is under development which will be added to DriveSentry I've not got the release date for this but I know it has been started.

8, I've not heard of any problems with trickle feed. Please let me know and I can speak to the support team.

9, Yes 10 euros is for life all upgrades are free.

All, sorry I'm not posting much but I don't want to be a pain as I know you guys are all really busy

    Thank you,

    Kate.
