I run XP and IE6. I have just installed Hostsman, which I run at startup. I have been advised on the net that with XP, where the file is more than 135 KB, the PC may slow down. It is slow at the moment, although this may be for any number of other reasons. That said. the advice continues that where the PC is slow, I should make sure that DNS Services is set to 'Manual'. It was already. So presumably that has no bearing on the problem. However, I also noticed in Properties for this service that is was stopped. My question is should I start it? What is the relationship, if any, between Hostsman starting at startup, and starting the DNS service. Should I do start both?
