    Hi i have a problem with HirmanPro.Alert.

Everytime it updates to the latest version my license is not valid anymore. I can reinstall it and it says 378 days left as it should but but after the automatic updates to the latest build version the license is not valid again.

Try the email support link support@hitmanpro.com. The regular homepage is a generic support page whereby you then click the upper-right three bars to make your support selections. That may not solve your problem.

You can also send erikloman a personal message with your details via this forum, though you may not receive an immediate response, especially if it's on a weekend.

Here's the link to the homepage: https://www.hitmanpro.com/en-us.aspx

    Edited for clarifications.

    It mysteriously disappeared?

I did 2 things... first, I went into IE and deleted cache (and pretty much everything else since I don't use IE). After rebooting I temporarily shut down the firewall and then hit scan. It took. After that things seem fine. I'm not really sure what the problem was. I use Windows Firewall Control if that is common to our systems.

HMPA need a internet outbound connection. Obviously, if you block it, don't expect everything to works fine.

This is because Nahimic uses a ROP chain in its software. I'll add these to the suppressing facility from our cloud.

Yeah, the issue was the firewall. You must allow connection to both HMP n Alert.

Did that, same problem. Getting it on two different laptops, one Dell the other HP. Dell is running Win 10 1511 and the HP running latest version. After a lot of recurrences, uninstalled HPMA on both. 2 unused licences kicking around until I know this issue is solved, rather annoying.

  9. Well not everyone has moved to Windows 10 with CFG and RFG enabled, so there is still a future for HMPAlert (as part of Sophos).

My bet: 500 pages was an indication for Sophos it would take a lot of time and effort to establish the same level of protection and compatibility.

So either you love for its high ambition level of protection or you are not going to touch it because of the 500 pages of compatibility issues.

And I suspect the Loman bros. will be able to solve the problems.

Especially this: "I temporarily shut down the firewall"
At least you have to allow "hmpalert.exe" to connect to the outside and to let it connect to the cloud for this new "thumbprint-feature".
But deleting the IE Cache can also help sometimes if nothing happens after clicking "Scan Computer"

And that is why I disabled (shutdown, NOT locked down) the firewall... to let anything pass through w/o firewall interference.

    Maybe I've misunderstood your comment.

  13. Yep I guess so also. 500 pages are the living proof about that problem solving capability, but it all depend whether you want your security program to give you problems in the first place . . .

On the other side 500 pages of problem solving have ironed out most of the incompatibilities, so the chance of running into a problem is becoming lower and lower also, which makes the deal better and better for Sophos . . . :D

you do have to consider that the 500 pages is not just problems but some huge enhancements.

and most of the complains and issues are home made, by running several overlaying security programs,
blocking functions with firewall and modified system settings, and so on....

The few issues I had myself where all fixed, and I'm running HMP.A without problems.

Me too. Most of the problems I've had were compatibility with Norton and the dev's have always got them sorted quickly after reporting.

I just started a very interesting play with Malware. I know EIS and Appguard pretty much shut everything down, so I just get them out of my way leaving just HMPA. So far everything I've thrown at it has been blocked. I am going to keep playing over the holiday, but so far I am really impressed. Erik and Mark, WELL DONE

Exact, a properly setup and maintained system won't create much issues with HMPA. The only issue i had, was because HMPA injecting dll into a one process of my isolation software , which hampered it; i just had to exclude it in HMPA.

  19. @Peter2150 and @Hiltihome you are both fanatic fanboys. Look at my posts, I am mentioning the positive and add a remark, you both stagger on the remark, ignoring the PRO's while in fact I am telling that the CON is reducing in relevance over time "so the chance of running into a problem is becoming lower and lower also, which makes the deal better and better for Sophos". But that is standard fanboy behavior, they are best consumed with a grain of salt.

Not exactly sure what you are telling me, as I agree with you. Am I a fanboy. Absolutely. Why? 1) Solid product that tests well. 2) Developers who have stayed on top of things. 3) Developers who have taken care of their customers. I would also add I have talked with someone a Sophos, and I am very impressed with where they are going.

And Kees, I haven't seen anything negative in your posts. Occasionally a dose of reality, but that's healthy

It's nice that you are getting personal attention from the developers. My own experience is somewhat the opposite, recently.

I now have 2 unusable licenses that were on Windows 10 laptops with only Defender enabled. Other addons were removed, yet upload was being throttled then eventually stopped with HMPA enabled.

I like the software but support is abysmal since it dysfunctional - emailing support seems not to work effectively and who to email now anyway? Reporting here 2-3 times and no / effective answer from the official team. Should I be contacting Sophos now for support?

What a mess. This is not to take away the technical ability of this product, or their sucess in getting scooped up, but a product needs proper support. I shall not be renewing since I cannot even use the product. If I can have a solution then perhaps I can renew.

There, fixed it for you, just giving a real dose of reality for us non-experts.

Updated: I partly answered one point above. Support is actually on the Sophos site. It comprises just a few guides, but there is no mechanism which I can see to actually CONTACT support. If the official product / Sophos support is meant to be these forums....goodness me, seems they spent all their money buying the product and have none left for proper support?

Tried to install HitmanPro.Alert on my Windows 8.1 I use for a server and it BSODs every time. I've seen errors related to "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (spaceport.sys)" and also some others. I installed it successfully on two other PCs, one a Windows 7 machine and another a Windows 8.1. I can't find anything on common issues with install, has anyone run into this? I did a Windows 8.1 refresh to try to fix it but it still freezes.

What is the driver version of the Storage Spaces Controller (spaceport.sys)? Spaceport.sys is located in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder. Right-click spaceport.sys choose Properties and open the Driver tab.
