Hard drive activity

I installed nod32 yesterday. I previously had mcafee. Every since the installation, I noticed that I hear my hard drive thrashing away every few minutes. It also seems that the activity lights on my router are blinking at the same time.

Is nod32 like kaspersky and checking for updates constantly? I know my mcafee program updated once a day, but I don't recall all of this hard disk activity. Not a real problem, but it is getting annoying.

Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

By default, NOD32 checks for updates every hour, but not every few minutes like you describe (unless "few" = 60).
