Same here, no errors for the "update checksum" function.

    In Windows 2000:

Add new application drop down list contains NIS2005, but I never install NIS2005.

Also, I don't have KAV installed in Windows 2000, although I have KAV installed in Windows XP dual boot with Windows 2000.

I have ZoneAlarm and this is correct, but zlclient.exe was already on the process list.

    GSS Alpha Feedback

Thanks Jason for allowing me to alpha test! Here's my initial feedback from testing with a fresh XP SP2 install inside a VM:

    7/25/06 - 7/26/06
    Issues:
    - Right-click on taskbar icon always shows AppDefend as disabled
    - Slow startup during login screen
    - Network prompts should show IP address
    - Update errors out
    - Had a blank prompt window after a reboot; RD icon in the top left corner
    - Checksum validation appears to work but cannot remove or update changed executables from within the Maintenance screen
    - Run GSS when Windows Starts never stays checked through reboots

    Positives:
    - New interface looks nice
    - The spreadsheet like rules editor is an improvment
    - Like the right click rule editing menu
    - Resource usage is VERY low

I'll post more feedback as I test further.

About AppDefend and RegAppDefend cosmetic UI error

Video attached in "About AppDefend and RegAppDefend.rar" and is self-explanatory.

Please change the extension of the attached file from .txt to .rar, and extract the video file .avi

    Description:

    (1) Click "About AppDefend", then "About RegDefend", then click on the "About AppDefend" window again, "Webpage" and "Buy Now" disappeared.

    (2) Then click About AppDefend again, a third "About AppDefend" pop up,
    then closed this window.

    (3) The "Webpage" and "Buy Now", and the "Registered to" and "License" wording disappear in the "About AppDefend", and "About RegDefend" window.

Register RegDefend and AppDefend cosmetic UI error

Video attached in "Register RegDefend and AppDefend.rar" and is self-explanatory.

Please change the extension of the attached file from .txt to .rar, and extract the video file .avi

    Description:

    (1) Click "Register AppDefend", then "Register RegDefend", the first "Register AppDefend" window will become "Register RegDefend", and the "Register Now" and "I have a registration code" wording disappeared.

    (2) Then click once more "Register AppDefend", a third "Register AppDefend" window appear, and the first "Register AppDefend" which had become "Register RegDefend" in (1) above now revert back to "AppDefend" with the "Register Now" and "I have a registration code" wording disappeared.

    (3) Then close the third "Register AppDefend" window, then click on "Register RegDefend" in (1) above, and the upper part of the window became blank.

Chubb, there is a Horizontal scroll bar on the Alert window. Although it is harder to notice since it is so similar in color to the Alert window.

I would assume that when AppDefend is ENABLED, the right-click menu in the tray icon allows to DISABLE it. The "Disable" option is not to show the status of AppDefend, but rather, allow you to "Disable" AppDefend, I think.

I think that is how it is meant to work, however, the control is not functioning at the moment as clicking on "Disabled" in the context menu will have no effect on AppDefend. Even if AD is disabled, the context menu will still read "Disabled".

    Another bug:
    1) Disable AppDefend from the user interface

    2) Re-enable AD from the user interface

3)The Permissions screen under the AppDefend tab shows that it is still disabled and none of the rules are displayed

    Illustration of last post:
AppDefend has been enabled but this tab doesn't seem to be aware of that.

Re: Ghost Security Suite Alpha 1.200

Items pertaining to the AD tab and sub-tabs:
    1. The Maintenance > Update Checksums does not work.
    2. Likewise the Remove item feature does not work.
      • This causes a user to have to remove an entry from the Permissions tab.
    3. Manually adding an application does not create the baseline checksum. i.e. You manually add an application then run that application and you get an Alert for said app. Now look in the Permissions listing you will see 2 entries for that app, and doing a Check Now for checksums will show the manually added items checksum fails and the item added via the alert is OK.
Items pertaining to the Info tab and sub-tabs:
    1. Like previously reported, I think Chubb did, the Info > Alert History and Statistics tabs are blank.
      1. Also with the Theme set to White Ocean, they are dark blue. While the other 2 tabs with info available are displayed in the correct Theme color.
    2. Previously reported, I don't remember who just now, about the Info > System item information (right area of the window) is showing sorted by name while it is not displayed that way.
      • Clicking the column NAME does reverse sort the list and clicking it again sorts it alphabetically.
That is all I have ATM.

With the White Ocean theme selected, the grid lines of the Permissions and Network Rules areas do not show. See below for screenshot. For got to say, I am running XP Pro sp2 w/all critical updates and patches. (Well, except for WGA Notification)
I am seeing this on my laptop as well. o_O
