    o_O Emptied my cookies last night and here we go again ... I can't stay logged in. Everything went smoothly until I deleted all cookies. What do I do to keep this site's cookies - at least some of themo_O??

    Next: Something came up on another forum about Google harvesting info and putting it on the Net. Well, I typed in my Nickname and guess what I found along with a few other posts:

    Type in your Nicknames in Google and see what you come up with. I would hate to use my real name & have it all over cyberspace. Some people I noticed even give an email addy on discussion forums ... wow! I think that is asking for trouble. What say you all??

    Hi Peaches,

    Clearly it's one of your security settings or tools that is blocking the cookie access. There is nothing unusual in the cookie that is used for logging into this forum. Based upon what you just said, it sounds like once you get the cookie accepted on your system, it's fine until you delete it.

    In this thread you adjusted many settings all at once and got the cookie accepted. From then on you were okay. You'll need to recheck: 1. *.wilderssecurity.com in the trusted zone of IE and also in ZAP's Privacy tab with full trusts set for this site. 2. Cookies for this site allowed in IE's Privacy tab. These are the key items.

    Also, as mentioned before, if you just temporarily disable the Privacy features in ZAP, (just Privacy, not the firewall), restart your browser and try to sign on, you can figure out if it's ZAP doing it. Since this problem first happened just after you installed ZAP, I still suspect the issue is in there.

    Deleting all cookies means deleting the cookie from this board as well ;). Empty your browsers cache, reboot and log in once again - that should do the trick.

    Correct: a google bot examines amongst others this board. Try: NOD32+Forum for example.

    For that same reason most do use nick names in case they value their privacy ;)

    Our staff is keen in taking care of that: "real" email addresses are removed as soon as possible in order to avoid spam etc. ;)

    :-* Gee you guys are good, not just good but great! Well, LWM, I took the Privacy off on IE in ZAP and here I am again, and things are peachy again. :D :-* By the way Paul, I did empty my cache when I emptied the cookies but I will still send you a :-* with thanks.

    Hi Peaches,

    If you are using IE6, you can setup the built in cookie filter to allow just the cookies you need... eg this site and any others you use that require auto logon etc.

    I did this a while ago and it works great.

    1st clear all your cookies out to start fresh.

    Then go to IE properties and in the privacy tab you can click on advanced... then check override automatic cookie handling. Then if you set the 1st party cookies to prompt (to begin with) and the 3rd to block (I also allow session cookies) then when you go to this site (and others you need) you will get a prompt to accept cookie. Allow it and then do the same with any other sites you need the cookie for.

    Then when you think you have got 'em all... go back to the cookie filter setup and this time set to block the 1st party as well. Then all other sites never get through.

    It really works perfectly.

    Otherwise... if you are not using IE6... you can always install CookieWall... I used it with IE5.5 and it did the same task... just setup the ones to accept etc.

    IE6 really does have good built-in cookie mgmt. Something Microsoft definitely did right.

    Zarzenz - thank you .... :-* :D Your method of cookie filters sounds intersting - will give it a try but ZAP can be cranky ...will see what happens.
