Is there an issue with Norton GoBack and NOD32? GoBack is not working currently--its icon no longer appears in the system tray and it is no longer giving a list of revert points. Installing NOD32 is the only major change to my system

Ok..i don't know for sure, so all i can say with certainty is that when Roxio had it, i used GoBack for years without a single problem.........i installed the Symantec version and then it was one problem after another...........i only blame myself.....i should and really did know better, but the glitter got me............ended up removing it.....
this seems to be the Roxio version..not sure http://www.majorgeeks.com/download159.html you might give it a shot.. :)

It seems to work on my machine fine? I think it might just be the sys tray icon?

if you ope GB and choose disk drive and then the advance restore it will show the file journal on mine the sys tray icon does sometimes disappear on boot but the files are still tracked - just checked and all is fine

with v.4 i also had that problem, but there were few backups to be found and the ones that showed, most of the time, were useless.................try using one of those backups should you have the tray problem again.......
btw..it seemed to me that the v.4 banged away at my HD much more the v.3....

Hi, Just popping in to say that I have had GoBack (V3) operating on my system for about two years and long before I started with Nod32. Have no problems with the two running here and GoBack is still functioning properly.

Mine is the Roxio version and I haven't wanted to update to the new Symantic version.

    .

Thanks Rainwalker - I'll keep an eye on that - last time I restored was about a month ago - I did start another thread a few days ago to consider alternatives. I agree that GB - seems to occupy the HW more than I would have expected.

In the past I always liked Symantec products but these days they tend to take over systems and fail more than I like

I am curious if there is some really good GoBack alternatives. I agree with you that GoBack is a bit bloated software. Does such software have to crunch on the harddisk all the time?

Will Symantec make the next version (5.0) less harddisk crunching? Symantec released lots of new 2006 versions recently, but I cannot see that GoBack has got any upgrades. 4.0 is still the latest version of GoBack.

I have seen people being happy with Raxco. I myself don't dare to go for that kind of software, as it is not exactly the same as how GoBack works.

I like the thoroughness of GoBack, but not the time consuming activities. I agree with you that I would rather have seen GoBack still belonging to Roxio. Those programming engineers and system developers at Symantec does not follow up. And why does it always have to be made so bloated? Can't they start using some real good oldfashion C++ programming hacks instead of the high level bloatware compilers. I have no clue what compilers Symantec uses. C++ was just an example. If the programming tools are not to blame, then it must be something wrong with the programming engineers. *puppy*
