Hi, Not very familiar with FTP programs. What I would like to is share files with a friend. I was trying to get a program called WWW File Share (http://www.wfshome.com) to work but even with both firewalls off (I have ZA+, they have ZA) we cannot seem to connect to each other (they have a home network but neither IP the share program lists seems to work for me). So would an FTP program work the same. That is could I could connect to their pc via their IP to download files and they could do the same? And if so any good (free?) FTP programs out there? Thanks Logan
To do that one of you would have to set up an FTP server: http://www.bpftpserver.com/ but it seems to me there are easier ways to exchange files. Regards, Pieter
Pieter, Thanks for the reply and the link. I am open to any suggestion of an easier way to exchange files (some are very large, 100 MB). Tried using ICQ but very slow. Thanks again, Logan
Which OS are the both of you using? You might also consider using p2p programs for the purpose they were built for Just make sure to get one that is not spy-ware infested like this one: http://www.shareaza.com/ By giving your files names no-one is going to look for, that would be reasonably fast, but not very safe. Regards, Pieter [EDIT] I made a crummy sentence there. Shareaza does not install spy-ware.[/EDIT]
Pieter, Thanks again. I never really had any desire to put any of those programs on my PC. I am only sharing with this one person and I will not be going any place else to look for files. But I will take a look at the one you mention. I am using Win ME. Thanks again, Logan
