Hi ,When a scheduled scan is to start up can not the blue icon in the system tray be made to pulse/flash or some other type of message be shown before and throughout this scan in order to remind one that the scheduled scan has actually started and is running. I often forget the time of day  and/or when the scheduled scan is about to start so during this period one can refrain from overworking the computer memory
Also if possible a link to this forum direct from eset security under help

My ESS advises when a scan has commenced. It may be that you have notifications turned off. Go to advanced setup and under User Interface/Alerts and Notifications, enable the checkbox for Display Notifications on Desktop.

Thanks for your answer but what I was asking for was the actual blue coloured Eset icon in my system tray to pulse or flash during a scheduled scan. At the moment I have only seen a time out balloon message that the scan is actually complete. Everything in advanced setup for messages has been ticked as per your advice.
My going into other operations such as downloading music or surfing during this scheduled scan causes at best slow downs to my computer whereas a continuous running warning would remind one that a scheduled scan or update is running.

what type of machine are we talking about? I have played crysis and been downloading lots of stuff during a scan and the only thing I really notice is a little extra CPU is taken as well as the HD light flickers more .... oh ya and since Raptor drives are very noisy ... that too when a scan takes off.... other than that, Cyrysis never missed a beat which was real suprising as it is the most strenuous game on the market..........
