You might have seen version 5.00.1980.1 which says it's win2000, 12 march 1999, 7,440 bytes
    in c:\windows\system
and version 4.00 winNT, 23 december 1999, 11,264 bytes in c:\windows (or same version and size on your system august 2000)
I am not sure with which PE beta or eval version came which as both have same file date and creation/modification date on my system as version date. So hard to tell.
On my system all is running fine with those, even though my system is not from the NT/2000/XP series.

The reason the file was replaced is because the version number is lower then the one being installed. It doesn't matter what date is on the file, the version is what counts in DLL files. Port Explorer's "sporder.dll" is newer then the one "Nam Vet" has on his computer despite the the file date.

Someone could have either changed the timestamp, modified the file or recompiled a new sporder.dll giving it a new date. Since it isn't a standard Operating System file another application has put that v4.0 SPORDER.DLL on "Nam Vet's" computer.

As I told "Nam Vet" , sporder.dll is used for LSP's and usually only on installation, as it is for Port Explorer. Port Explorer could still work with older versions of sporder.dll or newer ones.

I would be more worried about what application put a newer filedate, older sporder.dll on your system. :)

    *small edit
Port Explorer's "sporder.dll" is from Microsoft and hasn't been recompiled by us
and thanks to WhiteSand for actaully bringing this thread here :)
