Hi is it possible to password protect my EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE? and even possibly encrypt it. I want to do this so when i plug into someone elses computer it promts for a password. i have heard of third party software but dont they generally just work when the hard drive is attached to your own computer because the software is installed on that computer. so when you go to another computer it wont ask you for a password... I know there is a good software applicaton called LocknGo by Keynesis, which installs on removable drives such as flash drives, even hard drives, with password protection and some encryption features, but it doesn't support NTFS partitions, and I need one that supports NTFS.
So basically what IU am looking for is a software application that installs on the externall Hard Drive itself and runs from there, and supports all type drive partitions with hopefully a good AES type password protection.

    Thanx. Trevor:)

Use TrueCrypt! First, create a very small (50mb) partition and a large partition (remainder of drive). Install Truecrypt on the small partition. Encrypt the large partition using Truecrypt. Truecrypt gives you the option of creating an auto-run file. You would then plug-in the USB external drive on any computer and Truecrypt would come up and ask for the password to access the drive.
