I am not sure if it is just ESS v 3.0.657 or this version with XP SP3 but there are a number of incompatible issues with trying to get programs to run. I have already contacted Eset direct and if it keeps going, according to their advice, I will have many programs excluded from real time scanning or most of the anitspyware functions will have to be turned off. Several of my programs will not run unless I disable antivirus and antispyware. The latest is Windows Media Player 11. It won't play dvds and just hangs until ESS antivirus/antispyware is disabled. Is Eset going to fix this problem as there is no point in having ESS on my system if I have to have half the ESS program disabled to run other programs.

The uninstall/reinstall does not work and I think Eset knows this as they only advise removing the program file from scanning etc which I believe defeats the purpose of having ESS in the first place as I want programs that have access to the internet to be scanned and protected from spyware etc.
I still believe it is caused by the installation of XP SP3 but don't know why.
I have found a fix for Windows Media Player and that is to uninstall and reinstall the dvd/cd software that comes with the dvd/cd drives. I can now use Windows Media Player and Nero without disabling ESS.
It would appear that some changes made by XP SP3 are causing ESS to treat some of these programs as a virus or spyware. Eset will have to look at why.
