ESET rescue disk

Why do I need an ESET rescue disk? Rescued from what?
I am running Windows Pro 7. It wants me to install the
Automated Installation Kit. This documentation does not
state that it is for Windows 7.
Please explain....

The advantage of ESET SysRescue is that SysRescue is a solution that runs independent of the operating system, while it has direct access to the disk and the entire filesystem. In this way it is possible to remove infiltrations that normally can not be deleted, for example. when the operating system is running.

Reason, I do not to my knowledge have any waik installed.

WAIK ,Windows automated installation kit, or just called AIK, is a file (huge > 1gb. ) that is needed , and therefore necessary to download from Microsoft download Center to get Sysrescue to work properly; so it can load before your operating system .(To my best knowledge, it is not a file there will be on your system automatically, you need to download it.) From Eset knowledge base (KB) you will find an instruction, there step by step explain, How do I use ESET SysRescue to create a bootable USB flash drive, CD or DVD? (5.x) Hope that you can use my answer, and have a nice day.

If you are asking this, you don't need it Rescue Disk is needed just in case you will have virus which is impossible to remove from inside Windows. Then you will boot from Rescue Disk and scan your computer from there.

 

It's probably best to create a SysRescue Disk before you get infected. Once you're infected with something that prevents Windows from booting, it will be pretty difficult to create one at that point.

 

With this approach each user need to create a different ESET rescue disk for each competer they have, which needs to be updated with each major ESET upgrade.
IMO it would be much better if ESET had a universal rescue disk which could be downloaded by registered users when needed. I find the maintenance inconvenience excessive with the current ESET approach.

ESET Sysrescue is able to scan any underlying system installed on FAT or NTFS filesystem, so there is no need to store one SysRescue for each machine.

ESET Sysrescue is able to obtain IP address from DHCP server and update from our standard update servers.
