Difference between Deep scan and Full scan, what is it?

Can someone please tell me the difference between a deep scan and a full scan? Thank you

 

A full scan goes through every file on the system, dormant or active, and scans them while a deep scan intelligently looks for any file which could become a threat.

Just adding to what Joe said, you may have been confused because most products offer a Deep (meaning full) and Quick, or perhaps a Full and Quick, whereas Prevx/Webroot offers Quick, Deep, and Full.

Quick (can also be called a flash scan) is just a scan of things in active memory. Since the Deep default scan is already so insanely fast, you may find no reason to use this.

Deep is the default and as hard as it is to believe, it is all you need to protect your system. So even just taking a few minutes or less, using innovative technology, this is comparable to the competitor's full scan that takes 30 minutes and beyond.

Full will not use any intelligent means of quickly scanning your computer and instead scans every file like most products do. They claim you only need to do this if you are administrator and have file shares, or if you have drives that have never been scanned before. I run one of these maybe 2-3 times per year depending on circumstances, even though I don't fit into either of the prescribed circumstances.

just tried full scan.....it takes 58 min......whereas deep scan takes 1 and a half min...quick scan takes 22 sec......
