I'm a computer tech and recommend True Image to all my clients to image their drives. In the last two weeks, I've installed two new Dell Dimension computers with two boot problems I've never seen on any other computer. One machine will boot on the emergency restore CD, but refuses to recognize the external Maxtor USB drive. The other machine has a wireless keyboard and mouse and the program refuses to recognize either, so you can't do anything at all. I can't find any BIOS settings which affect either problem. I'm going the India solution, but know they aren't going to have a clue and will try to bounce me back to Acronis. It doesn't do much good to have an imaging program which can't restore an image. I have stopped recommending the program until I can find a solution, so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

My suggestion is to use the Acronis Plugin for BartPe. Go here for the Bartpe stuff: http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/
BartPe uses windows and windows drivers not Linux.
There is also a third party plugin available at:
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=15696 that may also be solution for you. You should be able to download the Acronis plugin which is V8.0 but works with V9.0.

    Hello helpdesk,

I can thoroughly recommend Mustang's TI 9 Plugin used in conjuction with the Reatogo+XPE version of BartPE. Excellent instructions contained in Mustang's help file and on the Reatogo web site. Check out this previous thread titled <TI 9 plugin for BartPE available> for more info and links.

I haven't tried it but apparently Mustang's TI 9 Plugin is also compatible with the Nu2Shell version of BartPE.

    Regards

    Hello helpdesk,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

First of all, please make sure that you use the latest build (2337) of Acronis True Image 9.0 which is available at: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

To get access to updates you should create an account at:
    http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/
then log in and use your serial number to register your software.

Please uninstall any previously installed build by following Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Acronis True Image, prior to installing build 2337.

Please create new Bootable Rescue CD after installing the update, boot your PC from this CD and see if any of the problems you have reported still persists.

If Bootable Rescue CD created using the latest build (2337) of Acronis True Image 9.0 still fails to recognize your external USB hard drive then please try booting with "acpi=off noapic" parameter as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

If that does not help then please create Acronis Report and Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

Please also provide us with the exact model of your external USB hard drive.

If Bootable Rescue CD created using the latest build (2337) of Acronis True Image 9.0 still fails to recognize your wireless keyboard and mouse then please look into the computer's BIOS for "USB Legacy Support" or "USB Keyboard" settings and try to disable\enable them.

If that does not help then please create Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

Please also provide us with the exact vendors and models of both your wireless keyboard and mouse.

Please submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
