Consideration for a Forum Rearrange?

Hello, everyone. :) I apologize if this is ignorant or out of line but asking as a neat freak, why is this forum's main page consisting of several, now largely inactive subforums placed near the top, as well as the more popular and heavily used threads somewhat hidden behind categories such as "Other anti-virus software," etc.? Out of curiosity, are there any plans to change and rearrange anything? I guess more experienced members have long since adapted but I'm very lazy--the less searching, whatever, the better. Was this asked before?--didn't see anything similar.

I'm not really bothered by it, I mostly use the "Recent Posts" function. But it's not even a bad idea.

Me too. Can't live without it on any forum I visit.

It's sort of like if you were in your downtown and saw a block of prime storefronts converted to vacant lots and left like that. I compared the area in pixels of just the forum space (no borders) to that of the unused space (BrightFort, Colasoft, etc); the unused space is exactly 25%. More if you take away other things like "adware, spyware and hijacking cleaning." I don't mean to be bold or anything, and it's cheaper said than done; just wondering if unused space can be compressed and/or converted into more useful and "friendly" areas. :) :D

Not broke, more like unkempt. I'm flashing on VoodooShield for some reason . Anyway, this is idle curiosity, that's it.

Edit: Re: VoodooShield. There was a huge discussion about modifying the VS systray icon, with many opposing it. Thought I'd clarify that, lol.

I am curious. How much would you pay to have this done?

OK, understood and I kind of suspected this anyway. Hope I didn't make anyone mad or anything.

I did not know there was a cost in deleting sections that are no longer used. I have seen in don over the many years since I have been here Peter. DiamondCS ect. Who paid for that? I think it is a moral thing for those sections to be closed since nobody is using them anymore. Especially the one that had yearly subscriptions and are now expired so nobody is even using the software anymore. Quietzone being my eye sorer.

Of course there is a cost. Somebody's time. As to it being a moral thing........

@plat1098 I wondered about this same also
I remember that when new forum software was introduced there was a question form members if "collapse" option was possible, since it was possible to collapse forums that users didn't want to see with old software. The answer then was, that new software doesn't have this functionality and that watched forum option could be used instead of it.

No cost in freeing up server space.

Good ideas and probably high time we moved things around. I'm usually change-resistent, but, I think streamlining things should make it easier to navigate the forum.

The old, unused "official" forums are now archived off. And, the heavily used general purpose forums moved up to the top.

USA still the best. But barely.
Very Nice LWM. What will I do with all my spare time now? By the way that is the reason I went back to using Windows.

    really
:thumb::thumb: Furthermore, there are some threads about fundamental themes, interesting and very much followed that would deserve to become an independent sub forum, such " No more individual patches for Windows 7 and 8 " for example, or " Windows 10 Announced - Released 29-Jul-2015 ", " What is your security setup these days? " .......

Naturally, I don't want to trigger a revolution, especially in the middle of the summer :D

I think it's a good ideal to move the inactive subforums near the bottom of the main page also. Several users misspoke on what he proposed. He did not say delete the inactive subforums, or threads, he said move them to the bottom of the forum (unless he edited his post). I actually like this ideal. I'm not familiar with the forum software. If it allows an easy way to change the order of the subforums/categories then I would definitely do it. If it's a complicated task then maybe it's not worth the amount of time it would take. I would image some forum software makes it easy to do this.
