Computer Virus Research

Hi every body , i want to build a Computer Virus Research Lab , So i want to Ask All of You :

Is the Number of Machins so important ?
What Systems ( OS ) should be installed ?
What should i have as Softwares for Malware Analysing ?
Is the placement of each machine so important ?

any other suggestions or recommandations .

* where can i find the VAT ( Virus Analyse ToolKit ) ? * or any similare software .

I would respectfully suggest that if you have to ask these questions you don't have enough knowledge yet to do this.

 

Thank you Tarq57 , to be honest i have knowledge about this . but getting different Ideas and Suggestions will be very helpful and especially in such a Domain . that's why i asked this Question before we start installing and configuring the Machins .

If I were you I wouldn't waste my time on a virus test. Unless you have the connections and resources to collect and verify a couple of million samples you really wouldn't be adding anything that isn't already covered by establishing testing organizations.

An easier task would be to collect current and custom written Rootkits and do testing on those.
