Burning an ISO file greater than 700 MB

I downloaded a Linux ISO file (Kanotix) totalling 718MB and I intend to burn a Live CD from it. Other than overburning (which my Hard/Firmware is not capable of) what can I do to burn my download into a Live CD? Can I use a file splitter? How do I use one? Is WinISO capable of handling this situation?

Another thing you might try;

Use Nero. However, you have to overburn the disc.
Go to (in Nero):

File > Preferences > Expert Features

Check the box "Enable Overburn" and make sure the setting reads 90 minutes. Try burning again

Hi,
I would not recommend this. I have managed to damage a burner this way.
The best thing is to ask a friend with dvd burner to burn it for you. Or buy one...

You could just try burning it; I made a Kanotix live CD on a 700 MB CD-R recently without any problems. I used the free version of DeepBurner, but there are plenty of alternatives.

 

there are 800MB CDs available too

 

700MB is the max. There are no 800MB CDs.

i dont know if anyone mentioned it, but ISO (or other cd images like BIN) can be over 700MB and theyll burn just fine. the data is just uncompressed.

 

Well, I really intended to try all the suggestions until I found one that worked. I tried Mysterion's suggestion first and proceeded to burn the ISO file with apprehension. Fortunately, I completed the task without a hitch and I now have a Kanotix Live CD on a 700MB disk!

Mount CD to a virtual drive, like DAEMON Tools, to see real size of CD (CD's properties).
CD.iso has 700 MB, but the same CD.nrg can have 600 MB (Nero Image Format is smaller).

You can buy 800 MB or 900 MB CDs. But the problem is, if the burner and software support it.

 

nero can handle a littel over 800Mb
