I have used acronis a lot and i have never had issues with it ever until now. I have a barebones back up of my windows xp with just windows xp registered and basic drivers. When i try to restore to it the computer reboots, goes through the restore process, and when it reboots 2nd time to actually go into windows, it just sits at a blinking cursor.

the restore file is located on an external and i have tried restoring from temp windows vista install and the emergency cd. i am trying to restore it to a pair of raptor drives on raid and i have had no problems doing this many times in the past...any ideas?

Is this the same backup image in the same location (What location?) that you have restored from in the past?

Are you restoring to the same drives that you have restored to in the past?

Did you restore the entire drive and not just the C: partition? (other partitions on the boot drives and the MBR?)

If nothing is different, then the results should be the same. So, what has changed? Is there new hardware on the system? Have you tested the drives to be sure they haven't failed? (both the source and target drives)

Have you validated the image to be sure it hasn't been corrupted?

Have you tried to do the restore by booting from the TI Rescue CD? (What version and build of TI are you using?)

Obviously, something is different if the results are different from previous restores. The question is what has changed?

    Hello dalearyous,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We are sorry for delayed response.

Could you please answer jmk94903's questions? Please also clarify, was the image taken from RAID setup, or a single drive setup? Please notice that usually basic Windows XP installation doesn't include RAID drivers; they have to be added during installation.

    Thank you.
