No this is NOT an A vs. B thread. Just wondering why more of you in here are not using BitDefender. Is it worth it? Downloadcrew has a single user license for $7. Extremely cheap. The detection rate is top notch but just wondering if it would be worth the money. I have heard some issues. Feed back welcome. Thanks.

I believe that some on this board have noted that Bitdefender does not play nice with complementary products such as MalwareBytes Pro. I think this kind of incompatibility with other security products is a valid concern and pushes a few people (probably not a lot) away from using certain products, including but not limited to Bitdefender. I suppose it partially comes down to one's comfort level running just one product versus running a few products. I personally feel safest running MalwareBytes Pro alongside a traditional antivirus product and have most recently stuck with Avast Internet Security and ESET Smart Security even though neither of those achieve quite the same level of test results as Bitdefender.

I have read in threads here about BitDefender having a huge install and very large updates if I recall correctly.

$7 ? Great deal there. I tried it last year along with a lot of others around the same time. We conversed in the BitDefender forum. The results were mixed. First off no one had a complaint about BD's AV quality excellent product. Its just that a bunch of us found BD to be like the PC was trying to do its work with a bag of cement on its shoulder. The majority found it as light as any other AV.

Never got to the bottom of it b4 I cast it aside & left but I reckon it was a HIPS style clash between programs. Give it a go. I'll be trying it again when Emsisoft lic. runs out.

BitDefender Total Security 2013 seems to run very smoothly for me. No false positives and the detection is top notch.

Most the time I would post on the forums if I thought a product was doing badly but I am happy running BD 2013 thus no need to create another thread about it.

No complaints here, I have already made it my go-to software in between testing other antivirus suites.

Bitdefender has no incompatibility with MBAM ( from 2013 )

and also u won't feel your pc dragging a bag of cement on its back.. Bitdefender used to be quite a bit heavy in previous versions but not anymore.. nowadays it works like a charm u won't even feel u have an AV on your system.
and i bet you won't have any issue with it.. a bunch of bugs recently fixed ( check out the update log in BD forum ) though i had not any problem or somethings from the beginning.:thumb:

  9. I've been using Bitdefender AV Plus 2013 since the 16th with no problems so far and much better than I previously expected it to be.

It's a superb piece of software, even on default settings. Auto-Pilot is great. :thumb:

Yeah I don't believe in paying for security but when it only cost $7 for a year that's worth every penny. It's very silent but deadly.

I'm having trouble downloading & installing the FireFox add-on. Maybe DW or Emsisoft don't like it?

Can a BitDefender AV 2010 license be used for the 2013 version? Might someone provide me a link for an offline standalone installer for BitDefender AV 2013 and BitDefender IS 2013..?

    Thanks!

Those questions can easily be answered at the BitDefender forums. As long as you have a valid license it should work. If you simply Google "BitDefender offline installer" you will find what your looking for. Its that easy.

The license period will only start when you activate the key for the first time. So you can wait. But keep in mind that if you bought a multi-license key the other computers/laptops will not have the full license period, because the license time start counting from the first registration of the key.

I installed BD Plus 2012 on my wife's laptop and upgraded to the 2013 version.
It has run very well on the laptop.
Sometimes the updates seemed to hang but I found that in those cases a reboot was needed to complete the update process.
    No complaints here.:thumb:

Downloadcrew has EAM for $24. That is the cheapest I have seen it. But paying $7 for BD means that it only costs me .58 cents a month. :D

  25. Was good for 10 days, before hitting an issue that interrupted my daily browsing, and no I do not have a super-fast internet connection.

Bitdefender was downloading in the background for a solid 5 minutes at max. speed (~300Kb/s), never figured out what it was. Forced uninstalled to stop this behaviour. The previous program update didn't do this.

Switched to a simple protection. Goodbye Bitdefender.
