Best Av for Mbr removal

I installed ccleaner, malware bytes, avira free, and Gary utilities on an infected os with xp anti spyware 2012 virus. after cleaning it removed netbs.sys disabling rpc server blocking all Internet functionality.

I tried netsh winsock reset and various other iPconfig commands.
I reinstalled the drivers and event changed out theethernet adapters. No go!

I wiped the system and reformatted the drive, but now I have a weird never seen before white box that says installing applications flashing red and orange. It then says do not press any keys while installation is in progress and it says please wait up to 30 minutes while installation completes.

I can,t get to safe mode and I can,t get into windows.

The person I spoke to at dell said its a boot sector virus and he said for one service call it was 129. .00
How do I fix this? What av or as program can fix this?

I,ve reinstalled the os 4 times and it's always the same thing with this Strange box that i have never seen before in any other previous install i have done on non dell systems that seems to execute system32 dell cleanup.reg for some reason during every format.

 

What is your definition of "wiped"? Did you perform a "zero write" to all hard drive sectors (Wipe)?

 

As for the Title of this Thread "Best Av for Mbr removal": There is NO Best AV for MBR Removal. One AV may detect/remove Malware that another doesn't detect/remove.

I would say that your best chance at Malware Removal from a MBR would be to use an Antivirus Rescue CD such as:

1. Dr.Web Live CD
2. Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10
3. Bitdefender Rescue CD
4. Avira Rescue System CD

Antivirus Rescue CD's have a better chance at cleaning MBR Malware since Windows is not operating at the time of the scan/clean process.

However, a true "Zero Write" to all hard drive sectors should take care of any MBR Malware.

if you have your win xp disc you can try writing a new mbr
boot pc from cd go into recovery console at prompt type fixmbr,it will write a new one for you,not saying it will work but give it a shot

 

Does fixmbr make inoperative the Restore from Hidden Partition feature of many PC's such as Dell, HP, etc?

I thought that I read somewhere that fixmbr will completely overwrite Windows XP Custom mbr's with the Windows XP Standard mbr.

 

ccleaner and glary are NO removal tools!
in your case i see them as more destructiv as normal.

btw if you kick MBR - how sure are you you have cleaned up the system?
best way is to save all important data and start from scratch - or image.

 

Wow, way to expensive service call. How did you 'wipe' the system? If you completely wipe the hard drive then the MBR etc will also be wiped. An easy way to do this is download DBAN(Darik's Boot and Nuke), burn the image to CD, boot from it and start the wiping.

I have seen The "don't hit any keys for up to 30 min" before. At that point it's installing other stuff. Have you waited for it to complete.

 

Are you reinstalling from the recovery partition? Or are you installing from a disc?
