Most software companies must be guilty of "sloppy programming" then as they too install files which may or may not be used. Zonealarm-Toolbar. Comodo internet security-av database optional if not using the full suite. Avast.-software updater.Secure VPN. I think most people will get the jist of what im saying here as all those modules are optional and yet here we are criticizing avira for doing the same thing. Thanks.
I could talk tons of trash and "sloppy programming" in other threads about many super buggy security apps out there, which is way worse than a couple of files belonging to a harmless installer. It is not about opinions in my view here, this is clearly a systematic attack against Avira, like always been. Don't like the software? get rid of it and move on, or grab a chair and wait until it works the way you like. I, for example, tried BD once for several weeks (paid and free versions), I complained in its thread once and came to a conclusion: Never ever again.
This is really the bottom line.... There may be a few people who are bitter about things for some reason or other, but it's usually easiest to just move on.
I couldn't agree more. I have 2 basic requirements for my AV: low system impact and detection. The day I discover Avira is responsible for an infection directly or indirectly, I will drop it from all my machines and test something else. I have to say, however, that it is more than a year that nothing has been detected by any of my computers, using several scanners, which means that any reputable AV is a reasonable choice if it works well with the system. If you are convinced that Avira has introduced some unethical practices in their business: it is a very strong reason to choose something else, and carry on with your life.
Just my 2 cents here, but you all are making a mountain out of a molehill about the ask installer files. Just my 2 cents. Please carry on.
= Really? Further to your nice advices, you will give my money back? Because Avira don't..... Note: When I bought the 2 year Premium licence, ask toolbar wasn't bundled with Avira installer. It was added later on. But I never asked if I wanted or not. Avira refuses a refund , Avira refuses to give me the right to uninstall the toolbar. Very nice policy indeed........... https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2240648&postcount=370
So basically you are having your private war of words against Avira on this forum in the hope that you can force them into giving you a refund. I only hope they pay you, after all it is a small amount of money.
Well obviously something influenced your decision to purchase avira prior to the toolbar being introduced so why dont you just use avira without the toolbar, plus it is easily uninstalled. Seems fairly clear cut to me.
No. I'm not forcing anybody and I don't expect anything from anybody. My story with Avira goes to the Forum users as an informative or "to whom it may concern" ....... ------------------------------------- For $1 or $100000000000000 my principles remain the same. What about yours? They are "adjustable" according the amounts?
Hahaha... Ok. As for the $$, yes, if I lose $5, $10, $20 or $40, I learn a lesson, but I don't waste any more time over it. Larger losses would probably hold my attention longer or make me take other actions. Bottom line: Don't sweat the small stuff, and learn to move on.... You can keep posting the same thing over and over, but it's diminishing returns. The more you harp on it and rant over it, the less people are going to pay any attention to you... Anyway, good luck...
How about your "other principles" I mean the ones you display in your signature? I do think there is a difference when we talk about money, to lose 30-40 dollars is not as bad as 10,000 (even though technically you haven't been ripped off, Avira is functional even with the ask files). I still hope that Avira pays you so that this issue can be finally settled.
I dont feel ranting and raving about avira is going to achieve anything and besides it should be conducted on the avira forum and not here. As i posted earlier avira was purchased by 7anon prior to the toolbar installation and those files are harmless so ranting about them now is pointless.
