    Hi,

Anyone else having problems running AVG free version 8 with ThreatFire and getting a trojan small Aoq message from AVG. The file does not seem to exist. As soon as Threatfire is uninstalled the problem goes away.

Problem is there are numerous postings at the AVG forum http://freeforum.avg.com/read.php?4,150286,backpage=2,sv= but no way of contacting support directly. If anyone is running the paid version of AVG and having this problem could they point the tech dept to there forum thread please?

    Many Thanks

    Jlo

Hi! I've researched this quite a bit.

It is definitely a false positive. It happens with several Spyware type programs and others. No one has been able to find it with any other program.

When I uninstalled ThreatFire, the problem went away.

FYI, I've sent a letter to AVG, since they don't provide any obvious support. I told them it's appearing on many forums and it's not helping their reputation.

Hopefully, they'll come out with a new update that fixes it. And also a public statement that it's their fault.

    Hi,

Looks like they are fixing it. The below if taken from the AVG forum http://freeforum.avg.com/read.php?4,150286,backpage=2,sv=

I have not reinstalled Threatfire yet to see if problem returns. May have a go at it tomorrow.

    Cheers

    Jlo

    Official status:

False positive, due to very similar, misused version of the hook driver. The legal version used in SD and similar, will be removed from detection in the next update.

I installed it today and it froze my laptop totally. Uninstalled it with Revo and fine again. AVG paid and TF have issues?

I reinstalled ThreatFire and my compter froze as well. Uninstalled (in safe mode) and all ok.

Hope this conflict gets sorted out.

    Best wishes

No. It is commercial software with a trial period. 14 days if not mistaken.
