AV price comparisons

I want Nod 32, what I have seen it is ok, but frankly not worth the £29.98 ESET.UK are after.

Avira is £12.95
Kapersky is £14.10

Been wondering about Kasperskys aggressive pricing whether or not it's due to the chkdsk thing or not.

It has a little to do with it Hammer, but mostly they see a ripe time to make some headway with the current issues of Eset.

8 wont be out till sometime next summer. I think MP1 for version 7 is about ready.

 

I completely agree with you. £29.98 is far too much and sadly I am no longer going to buy NOD32, unless their prices drop by 50%.
BTW, you can buy Kaspersky for just £8.40 at the moment... They have a 50% sale on their website, and if you use the coupon code "PCW07" (without the "") you will get another 30% off... that is 80% off. I think the deal ends on the 27th of this month.

NOD32 = £29.98.

NOD32 is good, but not that good.

I have decided to stick with Avira, even though Kaspersky is currently so cheap.

 

Nod32 is one of the most expensive AV's around.

 

To be honest, IMO the most cost effective AV out there today is AVG

 

Which one, AVG AM or the suite?

Periodically there are some good deals from magazines, such as PC Welt. In addition vendors sometimes offer rebates and the prices end up free or almost so.

I do not recommend it for anyone else, but I have purchased boxed copies of AVs off ebay without problems. It is necessary to see that the seller has a very high rating. Your experience might be as good as mine. Let the buyer beware.

Its especially expensive for us aussies! For some reason we have to pay more for the same software. Eset australia are asking au$65 for just the av. I ended up going for kaspersky internet security which i got for au$20 from an ebay reseller.

 

at the current price i want to grab kis.. i really would love it at that price but just dont know if i could bring myself to install it...i agree eset it a bit overpriced now..

 

AVG AM................And I am talking about "stock" prices; you might be lucky enough to find some nice rebates or some seller on eBay offering it for even cheaper

 

A bit off topic... here in Singapore... Eset AV cost SGD60-70, KAV is about SGD70 and Bitdefender AV is only SGD20...

But here... many are now going for NOD32 or Kaspersky, and some Bitdefender. Gamers are willing to pay for $$$ if the AV dun eatup their resource...

 

NOD32's and ESS's price was a major turn off for me in terms of buying it for use at home, primarily because the price is high still for 1 user/1 year. We'll pay the price at work with bulk and retailers so it isn't much of an issue.

Recently I bought the suite in my signature for my laptop [BitDefender Total Security 2008] and it was less than $60 US, shipped, and for 3 PCs/2 years which was important.

Different strokes for different folks. Multiple users/years may not be a factor so price differences would be completely different in terms of consideration.

 

I agree and I would add Avast to the list, i.e the free version.

 

I guess we all just have to pay. A new PC is far more expensive if my old is screwed up by some dangerous malware

 

I wasn't impressed with Avira Premium and have gone back to Nod 3.0, however it IS expensive and KAV is very cheap - looks like I'm going to have to upset the apple cart and take NOD off and put KAV on, which will please the wife, she hates all these security pop ups!

 

what was it that made you remove avira steve?? man 59$ for 2 years for 2pc's.. nice price there

 

Price is fine, I hated the graphic interface for starters and the fact some things i would have expected as default weren't - like virus updates. Worse problem was the memory hog when doing a scan. My PC is only 3 yrs old, yet surfing becane slow during the scan.


NB Just tried KAV again, no wonder they want £8.40 - screwed the PC up straight away.

what happened?obviously his 3 years old pc couldn't handle all that clatter ,mumbo jumbo stugg and OI kav put on his system by just inocently installing...by the way u should use their cleaner.i have to admit lucian bara did some real work in it you can hardly see any referrences in registry after.and blue zanetti has posted somewhere a command prompt to remove object ids from ur machine..happy cleaning

i have to say that by just taking a look on chip.de results in that huge sample test i cannot by any chance find any better bargain that bitdefender antivirus its free to look

 

I hope she enjoys the sounds of a particular barnyard animal when malware is found.
