No I got through on the 4th try for some reason. Now I can't get billing to work. I have a prepaid card, and Paypal won't accept it. Then I tried Liberty Reserve, and it only takes you to a login screen and doesn't allow you to set up a new account. Then I went directly to Liberty Reserve, setup an account, copied down ALL the information they gave me, and none of the data works as the account number. I have sent 4 requests now via their "forgot login" button, and it has told me that it has emailed my the info 4 times, and I have yet to receive an email from them with this info. Been working on this for well over an hour now. I have already assumed that once I get into the Liberty Reserve account to try and bill, I will have the same problem with this prepaid card as I did with Paypal.

I am really about to throw the monitor through the window and say to hell with this company all together!

Liberty Reserve seems to be down

Assuming that it comes back, your account number has two characters and six digits. There are also login pin (five digits) and master key (three digits), plus your welcome phrase.

Getting value into Liberty Reserve isn't easy using public exchangers. Some years ago, I found one who accepted cash by mail. There are also bitcoin exchangers.

@The Oracle, weeks of research and you're throwing in the towel? LOL...

I've been at this a few years and it's not easy, so hang in there, there are still plenty of good VPNs even if you are in the USA...

These guys are in the USA, they aren't a big name, they're pretty new to the scene, but one aspect that seems nice, is they are Unix OpenBSD geeks running this and they have a chat channel as well on the Freenode IRC server...

    https://www.tunnelr.com/index.php

Not all countries in the EU have to log...

There's also nothing wrong with being in California and using a VPN in Sweden, I'm not even sure what you mean by that.

I've also not used PRQ, I only stated they've proven credibility when it comes too standing up against the law and not bending over and handing over their clients.

    From what I have seen and read, Portlane is a pretty big company in Sweden offering VPN;

    http://www.portlane.com/en

Sweden is a great country to use a VPN from, why? Because this is where some of the biggest Pirate fighting is going on in the world...

I was the one who mentioned checking out if the VPN owns their hardware or just hosts off some hosting company...

    To be honest right now The Oracle, just sign up with BolehVPN;

    http://www.bolehvpn.net/

They're in Malaysia, they do pretty good, but they don't own their own hardware, they use hosting, but I've been testing it out and it's not bad, they're reputable, have a forum with good communication and support. You won't go wrong using them and if you're into P2P then it's an extra bonus...

I am not understanding how folks are saying Liberty Reserve is a "anonymous" method of signing up with iVPN if you have to setup a user account with them which asks for specific user information. Am I missing something? Being that they are down, and I still haven't gotten user account details from them 24 hours later after 4 requests says a lot.

People should save their time and find something else. Not to mention that I have read user reviews on other sites from US customers and iVPN is at the bottom of the list compared to other companies. I am starting to think there are motives here by the users suggesting this site.

I am not a hacker, and I am not doing anything illegal that I need to worry about, I am just looking for something that is truly anonymous and reliable, especially after the new U.S. military bill against citizens was passed this week. This country is falling apart, all your rights are about to be completely stripped, and I just want to stay anonymous is all. P2P transfers are not a major concern at all as I don't download movies illegally which is what most people are probably after. It's not about worrying about getting caught for anything, it's only about not getting mislabeled something I shouldn't because I am reading something they consider not appropriate in TPTB eyes is all.

None of the options work for Prepaid Visa card so obviously this site isn't very anonymous either.

"The story is that the department that make this kind of request do not work on weekends. Please be patiend and wait your approval reques to the next week"

Live chat response from Liberty Reserve after my "fifth" request for my account number so I can sign up for iVPN. I can't wait till "next week," I need something by the end of the day today. Awesome service you guys are recommending ;)

Well, if you want to be anonymous, don't use your true name, address and contact information :) They don't check. Maybe they would if you were moving serious money. Do pick some place that exists, because someone might google it, but not in a Spanish or English speaking country.

Their website is back now :D

What didn't people like about iVPN?

So wait a minute... you're willing to put your trust in these review sites you mention? When it comes to trusting the objectivity of those accounts vs. that of Wilders members, well... that's an easy decision for me to make, but to each his/her own bud. Have fun with that "holy grail VPN" (Strong ;), that will store every click you make and dime you out in a cold second when you use P2P. You talk about motives... most of those reviews are probably written by shills. I have a suspicion that they could even be owned by StrongVPN, or at least funded by them. And here you were the one a few posts back blaming people in this thread for not knowing what to look for in a VPN, and being easily deceived by clever marketing. I believe it's quite to the contrary.

People are trying to help you and you're being very rude. If you don't want to take the advice, that's fine, but stop blaming everybody because you're having a rough time. We went through the same headaches you are right now, to the 10'th power (for Das, probably to the 100'th power). And after looking into many, many services, came out with only a couple worthwhile on the other side. iVPN & Boleh were 2 of them. So far everyone else has had good experiences with them except you.

Anyhow, it seems that your beef right now is really with Liberty Reserve. And for what it's worth, I echo your sentiments there. I had a terrible time with them, and won't even consider it as a payment option anymore. Mullvad has the market cornered as far as anonymous payment options. They accept cold, hard cash. You might want to check them out. My only experience with them was a trial for a free service they had that I think has since been axed, and I don't think it represented the quality of their paid service. But, if it sucks, don't come here blaming me for it.

IMO, every vendor should accept cash by mail, and prepaid Visa gift cards. A rep from Boleh came in here and said they did the latter, but sounds like your experience shows to the contrary? Who is to blame for the transaction not going through though, the VPN service, or Paypal? I'd like to know because I ran into the same snag. If these gift cards were accepted by Paypal/VPN's, this would all be so much simpler.

As for trust, I don't trust ANYONE, period! Do I trust the review sites when laymen are talking about how slow it is, connectivity problems, and the horrible support they have received? Yes. Would I trust them technically? No. It's obvious that you all know what you are talking about, but I am not having good experience with it all. If I put my "trust" in things at face value, then explain to me why a "sticky" is at the head of the privacy forum that is dated 6 years old, and discussing in detail how to configure Firefox "version 1." https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=137921 It's a rhetorical question. That doesn't mean that folks here don't know what they are talking about, but if your sticky is in such an important part of your forums and 6-7 years old, then Houston we have a problem. I also have issues with someone swearing by a product, putting it all over the site, and posting it in multiple threads, for them to only later say, "I have never used it personally." So if you want my honest opinion, no I don't trust anyone.

If you read one of my other posts, I have already said that I could care less about P2P. I am not 15, don't download movies and music, and even if I do, it's not copyrighted stuff. When it comes to finding the right solution, P2P is the furthest thing from my mind.

I couldn't agree with you more about "their" motives on the review sites. I have already determined on my own, they are full of crap 100%. The reviews by the site is not what I am referencing, it is the common people who leave feedback. If you want further proof those things are rigged, HMA is still #1 on just about every review site. Need I say more? Again, when people are posting about connectivity problems and support problems, I would venture to guess you will see quite a bit of reviews on these issues there then you will here. Technically, I wouldn't listen to a thing they have to say, and would value you folks opinion a thousand times more.

You are absolutely right and I am sorry. I am ripping my hair out, and frustrated beyond belief. I have spent 2 days now trying to set something up and still unsuccessful. On top of things, my lease for my current VPN just expired, and now I am bare naked sitting here talking to you. I might as just put a big sign on my back stating this is what I am doing now. I desperately needed something by today, so I can sign up for service through my existing VPN, and now it is too late. Now I have nothing, and haven't gotten one step closer to where I was when I first got here. I am very upset right now, and I don't think I can talk without it coming out. Please don't take offense to it, and just realize it for what it is worth if you have been in my shoes before then. My apologies. I thought I found the "Holy Grail" when I got here, but I was completely wrong for a US resident with my specific credit cards.

Well I guess lucky me then. Maybe you are all not from the US and that is why you have had no problems with these services. I can't sign up for either one of them at all now. I have tried with a prepaid card Visa card. I have tried with my own personal Mastercard. I have tried through Paypal on both sides, with both cards. I have tried on both sites, with both cards, on their direct methods of accepting credit cards. NONE of them work. It is declining all my cards no matter what avenue I take. I know my card works fine because I just paid my internet bill moments after it was declined on iVPN just moments ago, and it went through just fine.

Liberty Reserve is one of the worst systems I have ever seen in my life and I have no idea why any merchant would use them. Waiting up to a week to find out what my account number is, just to access it, is a complete joke! I know about the PIN, the password, the key. I have all that information, but it never gave me my account number when I signed up, nor did it email it to me. Without it, all that other stuff is pointless. They have a "forgot password" button, but it isn't automatic, and you have to wait for someone to get around to doing it to send it to you manually, hence the dilemma.

    They lied...what a surprise.

I have answered these questions above.

So now I am sitting here with absolutely nothing at all. My choice is to go back to the scum HMA and use my card, which I have never had a problem using my credit card with them before, or use nothing at all. What an awful choice! Which is the worst of two evils??

Now I feel totally screwed and don't have a clue what I am going to do. Sorry for the attitude...just upset in general and it is coming through in my writing is all. I came here to find a solution because this site was spoken of highly, and I feel that all I did is waste two days of time that I could of been using researching another solution while I still had some cover. Now anything I research is in the wide open for all to see, including this post.

I do appreciate you all taking the time out to answer questions and try to help me...I know that was really the intent. Just ignore my attitude if possible and try to understand why. I really do appreciate the help, and I have picked up a lot of other useful information in this thread and other threads as well. I honestly wouldn't go back out into the public domain looking for help with many topics now, and just utilize most of the stuff that is here. I am glad I found this place, don't make any mistake about that. I will never trust anyone though. That's just who I am in general ;)

So I cooled off for a bit, and then went back to Liberty Reserve to start all over again from scratch. I setup a new account and this time got the account number via email right away. So I was able to log into Liberty Account and realized now I have to use another 3rd party to fund the account. When I went over the entire list, I can only find 3 specific vendors that accept credit cards.

    1) only accepts Canadian prepaid cards.

    2) Wants you to setup an account with them and fax or email photo ID.

    3) $50 minimum deposit, +$25 annual membership fee, + 5% load fee, and it takes 2 days to get to your Liberty account. I really have no desire to load $80 onto something to pay a $20 (which is already twice the amount I am paying) one time monthly fee. If I don't like it, now I have $30 stuck on this Liberty account that I will never use again. $80 to pay $20 is highway robbery!!! And I don't even know if it takes prepaid cards yet.

Does anyone know of any other service on Liberty I can just simply make a $20 deposit without getting robbed? Has anyone successfully loaded Liberty FROM THE US, with a prepaid card, for a one time monthly charge without having to overload the account?

There are other options like Western Union and going into a Bank of America or the like, but then you have to produce ID to send the funds, and that would completely defeat the whole anonymous thing which is the whole point.

    Any thoughts??

    @The Oracle

It is understandable that you are upset. If I were in your situation, I would sign up for BolehVPN using PayPal with your real credit card. If it doesn't work signing into your PayPal account, choose to pay via PayPal without signing in. You may need to use different email address and credit card, so PayPal doesn't recognize you.

Once that's working, you can choose better VPNs and ways to pay them. If you have given true (or conversely, implausible) contact information to Liberty Reserve, just start over. Don't worry that BolehVPN knows who you are. If you connect directly to them, there is no way to avoid that. Also don't worry that your card provider knows that you are using BolehVPN. Anyone who matters can get that from your ISP.

You can use nested VPNs even with one computer, using VirtualBox. Your computer connects to (let's say) BolehVPN. A pfSense guest connects to (let's say) iVPN and routes to an internal network. A (let's say) Ubuntu guest connects to that internal network.

It's not just $20 that you need. It's $20 per month. In any case, many online services accept Liberty Reserve. Accepting (perhaps stolen) cards is risky for exchangers. A viable route might be card to Bitcoin to Liberty Reserve.

Hey man, no harm, no foul. I think we've all been in your shoes before. I think what this all really illustrates, and not just your experience, but this entire thread... is just how frickin difficult it is to accomplish this task. And that should absolutely NOT be the case! Have you seen the ritual for using BitCoin yet? It just shouldn't be necessary to have to go through that amount of trouble. We should be able to just walk into our local WalMart, buy a Visa Gift Card off the shelf, come home, activate it with fake credentials... and use it to our hearts content. It's convenient for BOTH parties. It's guaranteed money for the vendor, as good as cash. And for us completely anonymous & simple. There can be only 1 reason that it isn't made a seamless process to use them... certain entities don't want people like us to be able to make simple, anonymous payments.

I think it may literally be easier to find the real Holy Grail than to find a VPN service that has everything we're looking for, and to then be able to flawlessly deploy said service. What you are going through right now... what Das & I went through, and countless others, is completely absurd!

I wish you the best of luck. And if you happen to stumble upon that elusive gem, please feel free to chime in here and let us know about it.

Negative. For what ever reason, Paypal won't accept my credit card no matter what route I go. I don't have any other credit card to use outside this one personal one I use.

It is just $20 if you want to just "try" it at first. I have no use for a Liberty account at all outside of this one need. If I don't like the service at all, then the $80 I put into it just for the one time $20 fee for iVPN is ridiculous. There is no other reason for me to fund this account at all, regardless of who accepts it or not.

I think you are going about this wrong with your thinking on exactly what those certain entities are. I don't know for sure, but I would assume it is these thief middle men that you are being forced to use, and not the TPTB. If the sites started making it easier, which could very well be done, then these third party vendors would be out in the dark. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out the middle men is kicking money back upstairs to the VPN's to make sure they don't provide an easy solution for you. Too much money at stake for them to be left out in the dark. If the VPN can make money off you for the service either way, but take a cut from the middle men to keep things the same, plus get kickbacks, why would they be motivated at all to make it easier for you? It definitely is not in anyone's interest at all other than ours, to fix this problem.

You guys have already said that Boleh came into the threads and said they accept prepaid cards, but I haven't seen anyone state they have gotten one to work, and I have already proved they don't. They come into the thread and make a statement like that, they indirectly generate more traffic to their site even if there really isn't an option there to do that. Of course they will say that. Even if they pick up 1 out of 10 people who read that statement and check them out because of it, is 1 out of 10 people they didn't have prior to making that statement.

There is absolutely no reason at all prepaid cards won't work, unless THEY are the ones preventing it for whatever reason. I can shop online with a prepaid card, why can't a company outside of US jurisdiction, especially in a country like Malaysia can't seem to get it to work? Think about it!

Not to mention, that it is not difficult at all to setup a third party processing center in the Philippians who accepts W.U., and can independently and privately fund your VPN directly for you, and be a separate entity from the VPN itself.

Ya'll are getting played big time, and you trust what people and vendors are telling you to some degree. Just like regular folks that are coming to this site to find out information, so is EVERYONE else in the industry, including these 3rd party thief vendors.

As for Bitcoins, I need to spend more time looking into it. Obviously there is no solution that is panning out for my needs without having to pay a ridiculous amount of money to get around it.

I have been using Mulvad off and on for downloading because it's cheap and I can buy 1 month at a time. (Cryptohippie gives me 25G a month, which is not enough, and XB is just too slow for me for downloading). But I recently did a DNS test at OARC and it showed my local ISP. Has anyone done a similar test with BolehVPN? I am thinking of trying them for the same purpose. And it looks like the price is about the same $10/month....and it also looks like I can order it as I please without an automatic monthly billing.

"THEY" here equals USA government. They don't like gambling, money laundering, tax evasion, etc. Have you used your prepaid card with non USA websites? You might try -http://www.twisted.co.uk/ and see how it works.

Windows leaks, so be sure you put in the TCP/IP stack your own DNS of choice, which I think is the better way to go than the VPNs DNS, so try Comodo's DNS or OpenDNS...

The Oracle, I've been a geek a very long time, so no one is taking me on any ride and I don't hand out trust very easy either.

This prepaid credit card you're talking about, sorry I've tried to read everything here today, you have this set up and funded on a PayPal account?

I've contacted BolehVPN, so let's see what they send me back, they seem like good guys and I'm not sure anyone is lying either...

    If BolehVPN doesn't work out for you then I'd suggest trying Portlane's VPN;

    http://www.portlane.com/en/services/anonymous_vpn
    https://www.anonine.com/en

I have not used their service, but I do know Portlane is a reputable business in Sweden and yes being in the USA is fine to use this service and Sweden is a good country to use a VPN through...

By the way I'm going to give Anonine a try when I get a chance, so I'll let you know then how it worked for me...

Yeah that 2006 sticky don't look so hot either! And I'm very up to date as a Geek and I'm a Unix/Linux geek to boot, No Windows for me sir! :)

You want to know if some of us know what we're doing?

Here's my Geek in action for you then; :)

OK...so I got something worked out, and I signed up with Boleh, and might I say, WOW!!! I can't believe the speeds!!!!! I am getting 5-10 meg down on tests, and mostly in the higher end of that. I am blown away!!! I was getting 2-3 with my last VPN if I was lucky! I am not a big P2P person, so I am not worried about it there, although I did configure it all, and ran their test file, and I was getting much higher than what I am use to.

I have some work to do to figure out all the different connections and different settings still, but I am very impressed so far. Once I got the billing straightened out, it downloaded, and installed instantly and without a problem. I feel 150% better too now that I am not running around with my pants around my ankles.

I am going to go through their forums and make sure I got everything configured correctly, but I feel comfortable for the most part.

Fox, as for questioning you guys, no it's obvious you guys know your stuff. I have been digging around on the site for the last two days and I have learned more in two days, than I probably have in the last two years. It might have been good for me to have all that down time. I have made tons of changes, additions, and corrections all that I picked up from here, and I have only hit the tip of the iceberg ;)

I am very impressed with Boleh, this site, and you guys now. I have a lot of work to do, and plan on hanging around here for a while ;)

I still haven't figured out a way to do iVPN anonymously yet, but it's not an urgent priority and will come back to it soon. For now I am up and running, and have my plate full with other projects I have picked up from here!

I really, really, really, appreciate all you guys help not just on this specific topic, but all the other threads you guys have posted in that I am getting a ton out of! I have already identified who the good guys are ;) I was just really pissy the last two days, and I am sorry. There will be no more of that ;)

Thanks again for everything! Should have plenty more questions coming at you all soon ;)

The Oracle, well I'm glad you got it going with BolehVPN...

For P2P downloading it's fast, through http you have to play around with the different servers, some are slow and some are fast through http online...

    I just found another VPN that looks pretty impressive, Kryptotel;

From what I can tell, Windows is leaking and you need to put the DNS' you want to use in the IPv4 stack (and I disable IPv6). In my network adapter properties I put a DNS address provided on Mullvad's site. And another I found in Norway, by scouring the search engines. Hint: If you know the names of ISP providers in foreign countries, you can get their DNS addresses. I don't think any provider can prevent this on Windows. I just did ORAC and dnsleaktest.com and all I got was Mullvad's DNS, not even the Norway secondary (I'm on Win7).

The store bought Visa route was a failure for me. On the little white slip of 'terms' that comes inside, it stated that NO overseas transactions will work. For US web use, you had to go to their site and give some info. You don't find this out until you open the card, it isn't on the outside. Maybe other cards are different. Mine was 'Vanilla Visa'. Another poster mentioned this as well I think.

Bitcoin is absolutely a PITA to set up, but once done, it is nice. Here's what I learned:

    1. You need to set up an account that can fund a Bitcoin trading account. This account is tied to a bank account, so don't try any anonymity...pointless anyway since they know your bank. Unless you can find one that accepts cash in the mail, I'm just relying on the Bitcoin process to provide protection. I chose Dwolla. They verify like Paypal: 2 small transactions.

    2. You then need to set up an account at an exchange. I chose Mt. Gox not knowing any better. MG will allow you to set up and even fund that account anonymously. BUT the minute I tried to send money to my wallet, I got a denial and I had to send gov ID. NOT happy about that. I may have triggered it by setting up the account with one IP, and then transacting with another, I don't know. In any case, they always know the link back to Dwolla, so anonymity seems pointless here too.

    3. After that, it was smooth sailing. You just put in a Bitcoin Wallet Address and send Bitcoins to it. From there, you do the same and send Bitcoins to your VPN provider. Those two parts of the process are anonymous as much as I can tell, from the limited Bitcoin research I did.

I wasn't worried enough to try and fund the trading account anonymously. MG or Dwolla (I forget which) can do cash at a Chase bank, but something tells me you will not get away with that without a real identity either.

Once done though, Bitcoin is pretty neat.

Hey guys, I was VERY wrong about Boleh and spoke way too soon. Like I mentioned earlier, P2P is not important to me. After spending the day yesterday and all night last night surfing on the web connected through them, their service is horrible for surfing the web. I don't do anything else really but that. It was screaming fast for the first few hours, but then yesterday evening came and it went completely down hill. It was so bad, that I would often time out or wait forever for pages to load. I was using "SurfingStreaming" for US servers. If I use "Fully Routed" option, then I am connecting to Europe servers, and would have to look at EU version websites rather than US version websites. I don't see another way to change servers when you are just surfing other than these options. It didn't matter what country I used, browsing just sucks period! This is EXACTLY what I referred too in past post about reviews from other folks on this site. This is exactly what they were complaining about on those not reliable review websites. That is why I said, I trust you guys more technically, but I do trust some of the reviews the users were saying and not the website it was coming from.

Then this morning I changed firewalls, and was doing some configuring and lost my connection to Boleh. I thought it was something I did, and spent hours trying to figure out what I changed that messed it up. Then I go to log into my email to send them a message asking for help, and I found this:

"We have noticed that the payment you made does not match with your IP country and Bank Country so as your billing country. In addition to that, your email is suspicious as you use our company's name as your username. We need verification on this payment as well as your email. We will put your subscription on hold while awaiting your reply. Thank you."

So it wasn't anything I did, they revoked my paid license because of this. The suspicious email account I use, was setup just for using their service. I used BohelVPN@domainname.com (domain being my email provider's name). As far as the rest of it goes, I haven't a clue what they are talking about. I gave them the exact name on the back of my CC, told them where it was from, and never gave them anything other than the correct information.

Now I am naked again, and had to log onto my CC account page to take a screenshot of my account and their invoice on it, on an unencrypted line because they revoked my license, for, get this....$3 DOLLARS. That's right folks, for $3 bucks they did all this. Nothing I have been surfing is off limits or anything to worry about, so they did all this over $3 bucks, and now I am just sitting here waiting for them to get back to me.

After the two days I spent even trying to find a way to get them paid, then the horrible speeds, and now this mess over $3 bucks, Boleh is definitely a major thumbs down from me! Boleh is definitely not a solution for a US customer not using 2P2 and more focused on web speeds.

Also, I am curious if anyone knows. When I connect "fully routed" and look at my IP address online, it comes up as European Military and US as location, and can't map it. Anyone find it odd that for anonymous servers, it comes up as "Military?" I tried it multiple times at different times of the day, and over and over again I kept getting "Military."

Does anyone know if iVPN speeds are better for surfing the web? Do they have better U.S. servers overall? At this point, I just need something reliable and good speeds. I am soooooooo glad I didn't sign up for anything more than 3 days just to give them a test run. I almost signed up for the whole month too.
