http://www.eff.org/IP/P2P/20030716_conyer-berman.php will get you to a copy of the bill itself, which is known as the "Author, Consumer, and Computer Owner Protection and Security (ACCOPS) Act of 2003".

So what will you do with that information?

Well, if you'll go to this page: http://action.eff.org/legdirectory/index.asp and type in your address, city, state and zip, it'll give you an immediate listing of all your representatives - complete with their email addy., phone numbers and FAX numbers.

If you FAX them (all of them), make sure you put something pithy like "VOTE NO ON THE ACCOPS ACT!" in the subject line (they have a very short attention span), then in the body of the fax you can put your reasons for your feelings.

Sample FAX (direct copy of the one I sent ALL of my reps):

VOTE NO ON THE ACCOPS ACT!

    Dear Sir,
It has recently come to my attention that a new bill has been proposed, the title of which is "Author, Consumer, and Computer Owner Protection and Security (ACCOPS) Act of 2003".

I am sick and tired of the “copyright” issue receiving more attention than it deserves - the “copyright” issue is INSIGNIFICANT compared to the national and international problems this country faces.

Were it not for the MONEY that the RIAA and MPAA are throwing around (and which certain legislators are putting in their pockets) no one in their right minds would even be CONSIDERING such Draconian measures against their CONSTITUENTS!

I urge you strongly to vote NO when this act comes up for a vote - and to resist ALL efforts by the media lobby to get the FBI or the DoJ more heavily involved in the prosecution/investigation of file-sharing-related issues via bills such as The Piracy Deterrence and Education Act of 2003 (H.R. 2517) - which I ALSO want you to vote down.

IT IS A WASTE OF OUR TAX DOLLARS AND MIS-USE OF GOVERNMENT RESOURCES FOR THE GAIN OF PRIVATE INTEREST GROUPS!

(Feel free to c&p this one and send it on to YOUR reps!). Pete
