I'm not seeing 11.3. Only 10.3.

Can't install it - errors on two computers upon installation....strange.

 

No issues here I download the .exe files you have to watch as there are both 32bit and 64bit installers!

11.2 is the first stable 64bit version, right?

 

I used this version 11.1.102.63 before without issues it does both 32 & 64bit! http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Still not working for me...first time I've had trouble with the updater, but consistent across two PCs (XP and Win7 64)

It downloads the installer and starts the install and then says:

"Error: Unknown error"

 

Well now...the version check shows 11.2.202.228 as the latest, but the installer page says 11.1.102.63 - so I guess the installer isn't downloading 11.2.x just yet and it won't install 11.1.x over itself. Just have to wait for Adobe to get their versions all lined up, I suppose...

Must say though that Adobe's website is a bit like Hampton Court Maze!
If I go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ I see 11.1.102.63.....shouldn't be there if new release available now imo.
I think they should do a spring-clean and simplify/tidy up the place...which reminds me...so should I

Does allowing "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe" outbound enough to take advantage of automatic updates? (I'm also blocking outbound connections through windows firewall). Why is it that FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe set to manual even though I enabled automatic updates in installation? (The service for automatic updates)

Probably so that it's not running 24/7 for no reason? I realize you have an urge to tinker with these things but in this case I'd leave it be.

Isn't it set to manual by default?

There is a task that is scheduled and the only thing, AFAIK, that the task does is start the service. The task starts the service, the service runs, and, assuming there are no updates, immediately stops thereafter. How would the service ever start, though, if you disable it?

 

I had the same problem during flash install on 32 bit Win XP a couple days ago. Opening the firewall solved it. In McAfee, I had to choose firewall options, gave full (Internet) access to this adobe application. Then the install succeeded.

 

In 2010 we had a thread here about the file mms.cfg that can be used for Adobe Flash. The discussion was started after some ESET blog posts (links in that thread).

That thread is now too old to be able to reply to, so I post this here.

In that thread a link was given to an Adobe pdf file with guidelines for admins.
The current one, flash_player_11_2_admin_guide[1].pdf , can be found here:

That pdf file gives, besides other topics, a good documentation for the use of the file mms.cfg. It tells also more about the new updater service.
