Acronis True Image 11 home and PGP whole disk encryption

Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum and hope that someone can help me in figuring out if Acronis True Image will work as well if the hard disk has been encrypted using the PGP whole disk encryption.
In principle two questions:
1. will an image be created?
2. will the restore work by starting with the recovery CD?

I don't use it but it is my understanding that you have to do a sector-by-sector image since TI cannot make sense of the structure of the disk to do a normal image of in-use sectors only.

The disadvantage of this is that you may only have 10GB used in a 100GB partition and your image will be of all 100GB - space and time increased considerably.

Once files or partitions are encrypted by specialized software, it is possible that Acronis True Image may not be able or back up or restore such files or partitions.

The following situations are possible:
- Acronis True Image may not be able to access an encrypted partition from Windows and thus will not back it up;
- Acronis True Image may be able to back up an encrypted partition from Windows, but restoring such a partition will make it unencrypted. If an encrypted system partition is backed up and then restored, then the machine may become unbootable after the restore. This only relates to working in Windows.

As noted by seekforever, Acronis True Image can always create a raw (sector-by-sector) backup of an encrypted partition when booted from Acronis Bootable Rescue Media. That raw image should also then be restored from Acronis Bootable Rescue Media. This is the only reliable way to create and restore images of an encrypted partition.
