Acronis 9 Build 2,2777 Unable to backup my drive

OK, I installed Acronis TrueImage 9 2,2777. I have a system with 2 NTFS drives. I ran the Windows disk tool on both drive and verify that there were no drive problems first.

I started a backup from the c: drive to the d: drive using the recovery CD (I am nervous about windows running in the background). After running overnight, I got a message that "Backup completed with errors". There was nothing in the log.

I am going to try this without the recovery CD.

By the way, could Acronis offer user of True Image 9 True Image 8 as a workaround?

I don't understand all the posts from folks who attempt to create backups from the recover CD. My underestanding is that the REcovery CD is to be used to RECOVER when all other means fail, you cannot boot to Windows or the orther safe zone capabilty Acronis has, and basically, its time to use the RECOVERY CD. OK, I get that every possible feature of a software product should be tested and work, but making it the normal way to backup, when Acronis states that the preferred method is from within the OS, is just rather .... overy cautious perhaps.

 

There are two reasons:

1. Windows does stuff in the background. I rather prefer that I am not running windows while backing up the drive (it's sort of like working on your car while driving it).

Also in earlier versions of TrueImage, I would get error messages while backing up from windows.

2. If I am using a pure Linux machine, the only way to backup the machine is to install TrueImage on a Windows machine, create recovery CD and then use that to backup the Linux partition. I could install TrueImage under WINE or something, but do you think that's more reliable than the recovery CD .

Besides, according to a lot of the post, the recovery CD isn't working on recovery, not during backup.
