    Hi chaos .
Not sure about 1.7 but 2.0 was to be released about 8 months ago . Really , it was . A-squared is really weird with it's releases and talk . Who knows if the next will even be 1.7

Interesting read. While no perspective date is given it's good to know they are hard at development of the new 2.0 Version...:D

well then hopefully the 2.0 will be released soon. and hopefully the free version would be better than 1.6:p

i saw the link the 2.0 looks really good. hopefully for now when its released it would be better than any other antitrojan until another antitrojan is released:D

As the saying goes: A critic is a legless man who teaches running.;)

I will be pleased to see & use version 2.0 when it comes. However, I am VERY happy with A-squared's present version. It gives superb protection, has a huge signature database, & updates signatures very often. Also, the A-squared Guard uses amazingingly few cpu cycles.

Some software outfits readily meet promised release dates, but deliver LOTS of problems along with each new release. From the get-go, each new version of A-squared has been rock steady and very effective.

I expect & WANT Emsisoft to take just as much time with 2.0 as is necessary to sustain their high level of excellence.

  9. a) Can you please provide a reference to an independent test/review that supports your statement about "superb protection"?

    b) One of the oldest myth of anti-virus is that the amount of signatures says anything about detection capabilities or quality of a product. Please do yourself a favour and do some research in this forum about this subject. I know it has been discussed here at Wilders thousands of times before. ;)

Hopefully, there will be a change in the way one activates the software in 2.0. My school system is proxied, firewalled, and who knows what else, so I had to wait until I was on my home network to activate my free version yesterday. Outbound connections are pretty much severed at the ankle, making it impossible to connect to the server.

You are the one with the negative comments. As self-appointed *prosecutor*, the burden of proof is on you.

Thousands? Hmmm -- I've told you a million times never to exaggerate.:p

In any event, forum discussions & opinions do not constitute the "independent test/review" that you seem to be seeking.

If you can objectively demonstrate that A-squared is a weak AT, then I am VERY interested indeed. By the nature of my websites & other goings-on, I need good protection. If A-squared is inadequate, show me & I will switch to something else in a heartbeat. However, I would devoutly hope that you will provide something a little more objective & meaty than the history of ANTS, & a reference to out-dated forum discussions that were largely composed of personality clashes generating far more heat than light.

As for your user name (The Good Ol' Days) just remember -- the young adults a decade from now may very well look back at 2005 as "the good old days."*puppy*

    Shalom & aloha...... bellgamin

Agreed, it seems Bellgamin has roughly 1074 more posts than you...  :D

  14. Nice try. ;) So we can simply agree and state here clearly: There is no indepent & qualified test/review of a² which rates the software as "superb" or "excelent".

It is still suprising me again and again how naive people are. You have in case of a2 a vendor who has since the beginning of this forum a track record in not delivering his promises. Ants, Yaw and so on... Not even to mention all the confusion about a2 2.0...

On the other hand there is no independ qualified review of a2 availalbe that rates the software as good. But still again and again wanna-be experts like you highly praise a2.

  15. Such question from an unregistred user? ;) I've been registered here before. I was a long time contributor to this forum nearly since the very first days of this forum.

But as times are changing and a forum's community is changing I decided to be no longer a "fully registered" contributor to this forum.

I was one of the original member of andreas's forum for A2 and found several times over several months promises of a release of the original software
several times these were empty promises which were explained by different
    excuses.

we were even promised a free copy for supporting andreas which also turned
into a pipe dream and is why i eventually gave up and turned to diamondCS
    for my anti trojan software.

so if i was you i wouldn't hold my breath for an update

and bellgamin your support for this program is still unwavering even when others are just stating that the track record for this program is such that it it has missed several deadlines and promised several releases and also has seen several supporters turn to other products.

you always did sound like a recruitment advert even in the Good old Days

A2 is solid now. Why bother "looking" for promises as well as new versions? I personally haven't read a promise yet. Statements of intention yes, promises no. V2 will come. You're breaking Andreas' Chops - and turned to DiamondCS for Consoling? LOL Good luck with that pessimist, I wish your glass half full for the New Year.

That review is dated circa 28 August 2004, & uses a miniscule testbed. Grossly outdated.
