    Hello all,
This is to announce the availability of the new 4x generation to the beta testers list as of yesterday. We look forward to your feedback and to the final release.

Please be certain to uninstall your current 2x or 3x versions of Returnil prior to installing the new 4x generation as there have been a number of changes that make upgrade to the new Quietzone solution in place impossible.

    With kind regards
    Mike

New Returnil 4...Quietzone...fine name :) I installed it with expecting to get something good, nice, efficient and useful...and I think that I got so :) Tested on Vista 32-bit (processor 2,1 GHz and 2 GB RAM) - some comments, info and questions from me:
    - installation was easy and quick without issue but...
    - while installation we don't get any info that we currently install Tor and Tor Browser as the module called "Secure Browser"
    - I think would be better to know that earlier and maybe have possibility to choose not to install that feature
    - GUI i is clear and nice, all modules working smooth
    - it's a good solution that Quietzone excludes "My Documents" folder by default , no matter where (in which disk/partition) is placed...it's indicated by itself
    - such exclusion are visible only in case when we want to virtualise all disk or that one with "My Documents" and other our exclusion
    - secure browsing always enables "One Time Quietzone" without any info/pop-up and nowhere we can't find info about such mechanism
    - program adds to autostart 4 entries and 3 still working processes in system - all together ca 30 MB of RAM
    - starting and exiting of system whit or without virtualisation is fast and without problems.
    Good job Mike :)

    Hi Ichito,

Yes, the secure browser is based on TOR at the moment. In the future, the TOR client is planned to be replaced by our own secure browsing component that we are working on in parallel.

The settings can be changed to start a Quetzone protection session (ref: Virtual Mode in 2x/3x) without the Sesure browser. The key is that there is a method and means for the user to have a more private and secure browsing session as part of the primary focus of the software as a security solution. This is consistent with our development goals from the begining where boot-to-restore is part of a security strategy rather than a goal in and of itself.

Use the specify locations link in the main screen "Exclude My Files..." section to change what folders are included or not. We worked to simplify this process and combine the older traditional approach of exclusions with our more advanced and secure File Manager approach in the 3x generation. The goal was to retain the "hardness" of the FM with the simplicity of the exclusion approach. This means that the folders and their contents are actually protected by the Quietzone protection in the same way that files and folders are protected in the 3x generation but the content in the folders specified in the exclusions menu can be updated with changes or new content added while Quietzone protection (Virtual Mode) is active on the disks selected in the Local Disks menu (Main screen > Protection > Local Disks drop down menu).

NOTE: the Local Disks menu WILL include all disks and partitions in and connected to your computer automatically.

See reply above regarding the Local Disks drop down menu on the main screen (main screen > Protection > Local Disks drop down menu). This menu will allow the authorized user to select and deselect disks and partitions to be protected when Quietzone protectuion is activated.

This is detailed in the User's Manual under preferences. To change the way Quietzone protection is configured you can select the mode in a direct way on the main screen by selecting One time Quietzone (session lock) or Permanent Quietzone (on with Windows start) OR you can alter the default settings for the Desktop toolbar (settings link > Desktop Tool bar). The top set of options are for the toolbar itself and the bottom list configures how and when the Secure Browser will launch or not launch automatically.

Thanks Mike for your answer...it explains me some features of Quietzone. But maybe some new questions to the excluding of My Documents and other folders:
    - maybe some pop-up window just after installation - something like small configuration wizard - would be good to give info for users about "My Documents" folder exclusion?...something like "Do you want to exclude default folder with your documents? (you can do this also in any time you want)"...is not obvious that Q will do this automaticly
    - feature of folder exclusion is visible only when I choose all disk from the list...if I choose only one from my two disk (C: or D:) the option of excluding is invisible...why is it?...maybe it should be only inactive/greyed?
    - and what about situation if I have more than two local disks...C, D, E or more...when is it visible and when invisible?
At the end of this "session" :)
    - is it possible to register few instances of Q on one email adress?

    No questions...only some info :)
    - Q currently work on my two machines:
Vista 32-bit with Look'n'Stop, SpyShelter Premium, Keriver 1-Click Free and HMP Alert
XP 32-bit with Kerio 2.1.5, Avast Free 9 beta, Keriver 1-Click Free and HMP Alert
    - in both systems Q is stable and I still have no issue/conflicts with other security apps
    - in both systems every changes are properly removed after exiting from visualization.

    Hi all,
A quick update on the current build and what is happening:

    1. A partial incompatibility with a third party product named Raxco Stealthpatrol was discovered recently that required a change in how the Quietzone client stores it's internal preferences and product registration data. The conflict resulted in QZ not functioning properly when the Raxco program was running.

The development team reports that they are close to resolving the issue and are testing this internally this week.

    2. We originally planned to release a new build with this and other minor adjustments last week but encountered some issues related to the fix identified in #1 that has delayed the expected release to the testing group for further testing outside the lab. The team is reporting that they are on schedule for this release towards the end of this week.

This is a tentative schedule and the release may be delayed depending on the final in-house tests this week and I will update the thread with any new information as soon as it becomes available.

    Mike
