Yes, this is correct. Only in case you are investigating why something is blocked you will have to disable one of the firewall to isolate the issue.

In previous posts we assumed that:
- incoming traffic filtering = Internet Filtering (packet filter)
- outgoing traffic filtering = Application filtering (just asking you which application connects)
You can enable separately Internet Filtering and Application Filtering. But for me there is no real reason to disable the Internet Filtering.

If you want to disable strictly just the incoming traffic (by only filtering the packets that are sent):
- not possible for application filtering
- for internet filtering you would have to edit all the rules and disable the incoming ones, and change the direction from "inbounds & outbouts" to "outbounds".
=> but this would be very strange. I don't see the interest of doing that.

Yes, no problem as per my 1st answer.

If you disable the Internet Filtering, what you will just get in addition of Sygate is an application started on the computer and using IPV6 will be detected.

when configuring a firewall, and playing with the options, rulesets... it may happen you block the traffic by mistake.

Thank you for the fast response and lengthy explanation. Am not worried about blocking something too much: I normally deal with the same destinations, same protocols.

More worried about creating a conflict by doing something wrong and creating a hole in my firewall security. And the hole may then result in my machine becoming infected / unstable etc. requiring me to take action to resolve this while I am using PC for my "work". (I trade the stock market. Any unexpected downtime can have disasterous financial consequences for me . . . )
