You could try scanning and removal in safe mode with a real antispyware and/or antimalware scanner.

Might I recommend doing the whole:
Spybot, Adaware, Ewido scanning in safe mode.

SpywareBlaster is just something that modifies the registry with killbits so ActiveX things do not get drivebydownloaded. It does nothing to remove the already infected items.

Did you turn off the messenger service?

Indeed. It sounds like one of these fake warnings caused by messenger service to sell a rogue scanner.

    Hi,

Service pack 2 should turn messenger service off by default.

    Take Care,

Your post(s) have been removed because they are off topic (the OP wasn't asking for AV suggestions) and your persistent product recommendation under various accounts/aliases is SPAM, and it will be removed as such.

    Have a nice day. :)

You can also try CWShredder and Aboutbuster - both free programs used to remove the CoolWebSearch/AboutBlank trojans (it's only a possibility that your infection is one of these)

spywareblaster will not help you with this one I'm afraid...

ewido and spysweeper in safe mode, clean everything with CCleaner then post a hjt log in one of the ASAP forums
