I understand that one of the many things Wormguard does is prevent dangerous script (Java, ActiveX,etc.) from executing. Does this mean it would conflict with a program like ScriptSentry, which does the same thing? Would I even need ScriptSentry if I have Wormguard running?

    Hi, eb_tide:

I run both with no conflicts. I don't know about the necessity, I run them both more for redundant protection. If they don't conflict with each other and don't consume too much in the way of resources, it doesn't hurt to do so. Hope this helps.

    Hi guys:

I haven't used Script Sentry, but if octogen is correct then it can't hurt.

BTW: No need to worry about WG consuming resources. It's NIL.

It's resident in system, not as a "running process" but in the background so to speak, but the moment something nasty pops up, wham/bam/thankyou m'am, it's over for the nasties.

Great way and look in other threads how Tassie configured his popup warnings :D
It might popup in suspicious cases giving you the chance to look in the safe mode first before you decide to close the nasties for good or send them to Tassies nasties heaven.
Never heard about the two conflicting, not that there is any need to have them both on, have no experience with SS myself so i might miss lots of fun, and WG does lots about web pages and many other things too you might like to be safe from, and i can asure you it saved me from lots of things over the years.

If it is any comfort Jooske: Wormguard is always the first to respond if I click on anything that is covered by both.
Could be the following order of installing, but I don´t think so. But as has been stated before there are no conflicts and they´re not gobbling up resources, so I see no reason to remove either.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Removing WG woudl even be unthinkable. Especially with the new build round the corner.

So you can still jump around Tassie happy as ever?
There was no need to uninstall SS at all immediately we just decided, just waiting for betatest opportunities of the next generation!
Could give much space on our systems, if the full wishlists are really build in, all items! I don't mind to find some functions in TDS or WG or even PE, i would just like lots of the stuff we now have in other programs all in our DCS tools so we can make space and save on resources!

WormGuard and Script Sentry *can* conflict--it has happened to me before. Whether they do or not depends how you have them configured. IIRC, what happened to me was that Script Sentry worked fine, but WormGuard was not catching my test files as it should have.

Run them both, don't believe me--I don't care. I'm just telling you what experience I've had. At first, the problem drove me nuts. I even wrote to DiamondCS support. They had no clue of course, since it was a system-specific issue. Then I remembered (duh) that I was running Script Sentry, and the moment I disabled it, WormGuard began working fine again.

BTW, this happened to me on Win2K, but I'm not sure if it would happen on other OS's.

(I'd love to know where the post I made to this thread yesterday went, but no matter, I'll do it again).

Running two script-handling programs on the same computer can always backfire on you (depending on which program grabs the file associations - and whether it's able to keep those file associations) - so I'm agreeing with "dude" on this one.

    I myself dis-abled and un-installed ScripTrap after purchasing/installing WormGuard.

While I'm of the "in-depth, multiple defenses" school-of-thought, this is one case where (for me) it doesn't apply - I do not need two script-handling programs squabbling over which one's going to do what, when. Pete
