I recently purchased DSS 9 on the net.

Original drive on Sony FS630W laptop. Installed DSS on C drive with original XP Home OS.

    1. C: active with about 70G and one unnamed partition containing Compaq restore image(5Gb). Active OS is WinXP Home. NTFS

    2. Created one more partition from C
E: XP Pro - Good here, no problem (as Primary Partition). NTFS. size about 30G

    3. Last 10Mb of space originally was unallocated. Used DSS to expand this to 15Gb taken from C drive space. NTFS. Good here. Created as Logical Partition, named this F: DATA

    Upon commit,

Laptop rebooted once, and then message request to reboot for new installs to take effect. OK on that and

    Results:

The original C: (active) still active partition as Primary Partition... OK

but E: partition, containing XPPro has changed by itself from Primary to Logical. The F: partition is OK as logical.

    Question:

    1. Is it OK to covert the E: partition back to Primary from existing Logical? I would prefer this to be a primary partition than logical as it contains a lot of program files.

    2. Will there be a problem doing that?

XP allows dual boot selection presently.

    Appreciate your prompt response.

    Hello Chris,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Management Software.

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

    Concerning your questions:

    1. You can safely convert your logical partition to primary. Please note that there could be only four primary partitions on the hard disk drive.

    2. This operation is supported by Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 and you can safely use this feature without any inconvenience.

We are always at your service should you have any further questions.

    Thank you.
