I have 10 Bitdefender IS licenses which i use occasionally but i bought them back in 2014 when they offered a very cheap buy for only 1 dollar each. Actually i bought a 2 year AVG IS and also have EIS and ZAM all pro. Well it is too much for me but i really can not trust free software just of paranoia

I always begin with One year and then if everything is OK, I renew.
    I purchased Emsisoft in 2009 and I was a user until 2016.

1 year because I don't know if next year's product will be worth using and it was a waste of money to buy multiple years if not. I would also buy a lifetime license for something, if the price was right.

Lifetime licenses aren't economically viable, from a developer's point of view.

Today, term licenses are the norm. You can renew them as you see fit.

Agreed. I only have two lifetime licenses. One for MalwareBytes and one for Sandboxie. Everything else of late I have only been doing one or two year subscriptions.

I also have a lifetime license for MBAM and SUPERAntiSpyware (which I don't use anymore). I thought Sandboxie was lifetime anyway

Oh man I forgot all about SUPERAntiSpyware. I have one for that as well but do not use it anymore. You could be right about Sandboxie. I have had it for so long I do not remember. Thanks.

I got a '5 device 5 years' licence of Panda global security, from QVC of all places, for a silly low price in 2014, still used on 1 device at the mo. And 2 MBAM lifetime licences just before they stopped doing them.

Wow never knew that QVC sold antivirus. I have seen them sell hardware and stuff. Then again, have not watched QVC in many years.

In the past their lifetime licence was a pc lifetime licence not an antivirus lifetime licence .It would only allow you 1 extra installation on a different hardrive ...after that it was useless.I don't know whether this has changed now?

Same here ... that's my one lifetime purchase, down the swirly ... :argh:

I think that I would go out three years for a product that I really like, if I got a great deal! :thumbd:

I'm not sure.. Signatures are updated many times a day. Ive had the lifetime licence for years. It' suffers from many fps although you can trust them easily.

Point 3 seems to confirm that it's pc lifetime licence rather than a av lifetime licence

You're right, it's not. It has not been updated for over four years. It still receives definition updates, as has already been mentioned, but these days has major issues with false positives. As a result, it's best avoided.

They still sell though. There was a member of ws that actively posted about twister a long time ago and I think it was Bellgamin maybe if he is around he can share more about ut

I own lifetime licenses for MBAM and AdGuard and my 3 years license to Kaspersky still has 487 days to go. If the company is trusted and has a solid reputation I usually go for the longest license available because of the discount you get.

Not counting cheap discounts on lifetime licenses, my max is 3 years.
Rregarding the 10+ year licenses, I don't buy those not only because you don't know if the security vendor will still be around in 2030, also because usually it's not a multi-platform license, windows only. I don't know if it is still around by then, and if it is I might not want to use it :D
