Yes you are right. Hipses are great tools for testing malware. Once I got some dropper embedded in keygen. It was fun to see all the actions it was trying to do, and even more fun to deny it all :)
Nevertheless, image restore was the next thing happening to my computer that day :)

As of late, Comodo FW/D+ is like Frank's Red Hot to me.

"I put that sh* on everything."

I like Comodo also but it seems at least in my experience to be a bit less stable than OA. :D

Sandboxie-free...It's actually the only security software I use on my older XP-SP-3 machine. I found, the more I learn about online security, the less I get hit with malware, and the less security software I need. In a year and a half of being online daily, more than I really should be, I only got hit with one Rogue which tried real hard to download itself on my system and froze the browser window. I panicked and turned off my PC and when I turned it back on the Rogue was gone thanks to sandboxie. I also use a few on-demand malware scanners at least once per week.

Oh, and, thank you tzuk, for not only a great product, but also keeping it paid and free, too!!

As time shows I can't do without Comodo Time Machine. It has saved my comps dozen times from complete disaster and allows to improvise with any security configurations and any progs without any apprehension.

Nothing, honestly. With my safe habits and end user know-how, the only thing that's necessary is a firewall. And my router eliminates any need for a "security program" to cover this vector.

I feel much better with outbound filtering & application control, and so I have Comodo Firewall/D+. I also feel much better running my browser in a virtual session, and so I have Sandboxie. But I could almost certainly go without both and remain uncompromised.

I could almost justify listing a good on-demand scanner, but I don't let anything touch my computer that I don't implicitly trust. And therefore they never find anything.

So in the end... there's nothing at all I absolutely "can't" do without.

    Here, here!

Couldn't agree more over the success ratio "HIPS" in most any form offers to ward off surprise as well as in-our-face attacks.

Comodo D+ and EQSysSecure still remain formidable walls of adequate & reliable protections IMHO.

I don't see myself ever giving up classic HIPS (SSM) as the core of my security package. That said, I am giving SandBoxie another good look, not as a replacement for SSM but as a supplement. I like the ability to close the browser and have all of the tracking and data mining garbage immediately removed. On XP, the 2 coexist quite well so far and the slowdown is minimal. I wish the trial version of SandBoxie allowed the use of multiple sandboxes for a trial period so I could work with SSM folder rules for the sandboxes and see what is possible.

Malwarebytes Pro is also another one I can't do without. It's up in the ranks with Sandboxie.

If the FF issue was the inability to play flash with Geswall running this may be the answer in case you are still interested:

    1) Open the Geswall console.

    2) Under Applications -> Web Browsers -> Mozilla Firefox

-"Add rules" of type "File" and use setting "allow" for the following:

    A) \Device\NamedPipe\chrome
    B) \Device\NamedPipe\gecko-crash-server-pipe

It's so hard for me to choose between Comodo Firewall and Sandboxie. I guess if I was told that I could only have ONE security program on my computer, it would be Sandboxie. Simply because I could use the built in Win7 firewall and then run anything I needed to in the sandbox, thus bypassing the need for D+ in most situations.

    Thanks drhu22.
There is also the issue with UAC. It won't allow me to install or trust files. I'm unsure which but I remember it being a problem.
Either way I've moved on and am very happy with sandboxie. Not that I'm lacking faith in geswall but it hasn't been updated or supported. I'd rather not take the chance that some bypass has been found for it.
Thank you for the effort though. I appreciate it.

    I switched it up...

AppGuard took the place of Sandboxie

Now that I have a licensed copy and running it full time, it's definitely a security program I can't do without.
