I recently got a new laptop and my husband installed Trend Micro PC-cillin. I don't have a lot of manual settings on it, it's pretty much the standard settings, but just out of curiosity I ran a scan for Spyware and the results came up with only one item: DIAL_PULPITO.A

What is this? Should I let the program delete it or is it something I need?

Also, is there any need for me to see the constant Threat Alerts popping up if I have it set to do an automatic scan and update every night?

I'm just your average user and not terribly technical, so if possible, would you please use terms that are fairly elementary in your response?

Thanks very much for any info you can offer.

You've got a dose of this:-

    http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/grayware/ve_graywareDetails.asp?GNAME=DIAL_PULPITO.A

If you are running Tred Micro it should be able to delete it for you (otherwise you would need to stop the process in Task Manager and manually delete it).

What I suggest you do is boot into safe mode:-

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html

and give yourself a full system scan with Trend Micro and allow it to delete what it finds.

As a preliminary to the above though, it would be better to firstly clear out all your old temp windows and temp internet files. If you are not sure how to do that it would be simplest to download and run CCleaner from here:-

    http://www.ccleaner.com/

Before running it you should configure CCleaner by clicking Options/Advanced and unticking the box for 'Only delete files.....older than 48 hours'.

If you cannot delete the dialler could you please post its full and exact file path, as given by Trend.
