I hate when I put software back on, and literally the next day I have to do it again because of an update :D Thanks.

Edit: Not available on their release page yet.

The only place I even see mention of it is on the news page. A quick glance through their forums shows no talk of it. I wonder what the deal is?

MPC seems to need too many extra codecs for my usage. As far as security issues with VLC, that's what Sandboxie is for ;)

Has a VLC exploit ever been known to be used in the wild?

Well, version 1.1.12 did come out, but only for Mac OS X, for what it seems -http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

I saw it moments ago when looking through Source Forge. They could release new versions for the other O.S to keep a consistency in version numbering. It gets very confusing... :D

I don't know why Ubuntu comes with VLC and so many plugins. Removed those immediately...

Anyways, this is a BO so use EMET and you should be fine.

Ubuntu is meant as an alternative to Windows. It must be compatible (by default) with at least the same formats supported by popular Windows' built-in apps.
