True Image changes partition letters please tell me how to stop it!

I want to restore me drive completely from my secure zone. Right before I click comit, though, in the rescue cd, I noticed that TI8 was going to restore my partition but then it said drive letter C--> E and my recovery partition D---> C Obviously I cannot have my recovery partition as c because it would be booted, right? So how can I tell TI to leave the letters the same? Thanks

 

No one has had this problem/knows how to stop it?!!?? I have already contacted acronis support but they have failed to respond in 5 days

it was 448034. It was just answered. I do not really understand the response from the tech: Please note, that different operating systems have their own disk
letters order For example, even Windows 9x and Windows XP have different
drive letter order. The Acronis bootable rescue media has its own unified
disk letters order. Please navigate through the disk carefully, looking
at the Volume Labels and disk/partition numbers.

Does that mean I should restore the drive?? I dont think he/she understands that it is tru image that says it is going to change the drive letters after I restore.

I've had this problem once before and it was caused by my temporarily putting the drive with Windows on it into another computer. To fix it I had to format C drive (I either used a Win 98 floppy or the Windows XP CD to do the format) and then Acronis wanted to call C drive C instead of E. Another way of doing it if my memory serves me right was to restore the image letting Acronis change C to E and then restore it again and I found it then wanted to change E back to C on the second restore. The problem is if you format C you may destroy the secure zone where your image is but the second method I described may work for you. Another option may be to repair the main boot record and you may find Acronis no longer wants to call C drive E. Others may be able to tell you how to repair the main boot record.

 

TRANSLATION: When you boot from the Acronis rescue CD, you are booting into a Linux operating system, not Windows and not DOS. Linux calls the drive E but you will find that, upon rebooting the restored drive, Windows will call it the C drive. Therefore, no reason to stop ATI from doing what it is doing.

 

In order to prevent confusion over drive letters when operating from the boot rescue CD, it's recommended that you rename your drive volumes to something meaningfull e.g. MAIN_NTFS, BACKUP_NTFS, USB_FAT32, etc.

Then why does it call it C initially then want to change it to E. There is something fishy about that. I have to agree with Mareke and am going to try his second option being that we expirienced this problem before.
