TI v9 2289 Confidence restored.

I have just done a restore of my master HDD which contains the OS and all my other programs and data. No problems were encountered and I was up and running again in an elapsed time of about 20 mins.

To really test the backup capabilities of build 2289 with no risk to my system or data I simulated a total breakdown of the master HDD by removing it from the computer and replaced it with a spare drive I had available. The backup image had been stored in a secure zone on a slave drive already in place. Booting from a 2289 CD and the restore to the the replacement drive was uneventful and all systems are back to normal.

I have not used the image verification process because I cannot see the point of it. On previous builds there have been false positives of archive corruption. If an image is in fact corrupt the verification step does nothing to correct this in any case. Were a main drive to fail it is no help to a user to have a backup image flagged as corrupt when it might otherwise be used for recovery.
